Back when I first moved to NYC, I already had a few tats, and I wanted a small one real quick one day on my lunchbreak… I ran across the street to have a really simple acorn put on my wrist…
After we drafted it, and we had started, I struck up a convo as i always do. He asked me what I did, (and then I was actually working for a group called PLAN (they help starving childern and whatnot)…
As it turned out, he was a NAZI, and really didnt like my line of work (helping all the africans and whatnot). I wish I would have known that at first…
I dont know if after that he intentionally blew out my tat, or if he was just a crappy artist (dont think so cause his portfolio was good or else I wouldnt have let him ink me)..
Point is, when you are talking to the tattoo artist, you are not only evaluating his artistic skill and exp, but also the artist… Remember, you will likely be comming back again to the same artist, so it is good to be with one that you like as a person…
