    Hi
I have found a picture (an art print) online which I really love and think would look amazing as a tattoo. I don’t have any tattoos (yet!) and most of my friends only have very simple designs, so I was wondering is something like this even possible or is it just too finely detailed?

I don’t want it to be too big, the size it displays at on the website would be great. Thinking about turning it uspide down and getting it on the right hand side of my back, so the tail would end just where my bra strap sits.

Hello! Yes, that print sould be no problem, for a good artist! Just print it off the web site and take it to a good artist and they can make it the exact size you want. Very nice desgn too!

Come back with a nice pictures of your new ink! I’d love to see the finished peice!

    Hi

Thanks for the replies! I haven’t totally made up my mind yet whether I will get it or where on my body, but I have decided that I won’t get any tattoos until I have lost enough weight that I will be happy to show myself in a bikini, and I am way way off of that at the moment so it’ll be a long time yet! Gives me plenty of time to save up and decide and be very certain that I am making the right choice. I think I will be, but I don’t want to hate it in a few years and have to live with it or get it lasered off. I have piercings and want more but with most piercings there isn’t quite such a big commitment.

I’m planning to buy the print itself when I have a bit more money so if I do decide to get it done I’ll have a very clear image for the artist!

Hi Stormie… that would make a class tat alright but i do think it’ll need to be bigger to keep all that detail clean.
Im only lookin at it on a laptop so maybe my screen is just tooo small lol. looks to be 5 inches head to tail on my lapy. id honestly say it will need to be at least 10 – 12 inches long from head to tail if ya wanna keep all that detail. Show it to ur tattooist & see what he or she thinks. If u wanna keep it small they might recommend simplifying it a touch. Plus knowing what size ur gonna get it may help ya choose where on ur body to get it.
I like the idea of turning it upside down… what about upper back with the tail runnig up towards the back of ur neck?

Yeah I’ll definitely track down a good tattooist and consult them first! Your suggestion of having it so the tail goes up the neck sounds really good but I’m going to be a teacher and even nowadays you are frowned upon for having visible tattoos. I thought it might also look good as a foot tattoo with the tail curling up towards the ankle although personally I prefer foot tattoos that are just patterns.

As I said earlier I want to lose a lot of weight before getting any tats so planty of time to decide. I’ve wanted one for ages but have waited, I want to make sure I am old enough and sensible enough to know I can commit to it. Not to mention be earning a good enough wage to pay for it! I like fish as an animal and love this design, and I’ve looked into the symbology of fish tattoos and I’m quite pleased with the associations as well so it seems a good way to go.

At the moment I’m torn between getting it on my back or on my hip (so most of it would be below my waistband but with the tail curling upwards by the side of my stomach, it would almost always be covered by clothing). If I got it on my hip I would get a similar curling pattern on the other side without the fish (no doubt I can find something else by Si Scott to suit).

Yes, it would be possible. But depending on what size you would have it it may need some tweaking. Now say if it is to cover the lower part of your leg. Then no tweaking would be needed. But if it is to go on the top of your arm or shoulder blade. Then the image would be smaller and would need to be a little less detailed. You would also need a line drawing for the design.

Thanks for the input. I wouldn’t be too surprised or upset if it did have to be simplified – I would rather simplify it a bit than end up with an ugly mess, although I want to keep it as close to the original design as I can. I’m not a small person so I do have a bit more skin canvas to work with, but I still don’t want anything too big.

Just need to get this flab shifted or it’s all a moot point anyway!
