Hi All,
I’m new to the forums, so “hello” 🙂
I have tattoos on my upper arms and am almost done with a full back piece.
I’m 21 years old, and live in the UK. Now, the amount of sun exposure I get is like 2 times a year, tops (as you know, we have little/no sun in the UK lol).
As long as I keep Piz Buin (or some sort of high factor 30+ suncream) on it, will this keep the majority of fading to a minimum?
I understand tattoos fade with time anyway, but I’m just wondering the best ways to stop the sun completely fading my tattoos!
I will try and upload some photos tonight 🙂
Thanks,
Amnesia

keeping a good factor 309 or so should be more than enough unless your planning on spending all day on the beach in midsummer
and lets face it we had less sun this year than an arctic winter.
tats may fade a little over time but they will fade more quickly in the sun so keep em covered and moisturise!!

Thanks for the advice.
I’m going to Abu Dhabi (middle east) next year and also off to Zante.. would it be best to keep a vest on the majority of the time aswell as sun cream?
Or is it okay to walk around the towns topless just not for prolongued periods of time?
you jammy git…. lol..
you will be ok, but when you do take your top off just make sure you use plenty of sun block and often,
Okay, that’s cool then.
For some reason I always seem to get paranoid, like i’m sure my “praying hands” has faded quite a bit since I got it (2 years ago)… but maybe it hasn’t THAT much.
Last question – I’m going to Abu Dhabi middle of Feb. Would you recomend being tattooed at the end of January? Or wait until I return?
I’ve had mixed advice on this. Some say get tattooed before I go to Abu Dhabi as then my tattoo will weather together, instead of looking odd. Some say do not get tattooed when I get back because my skin will be tanned and it won’t come out right?
you should never let sunlight get onto a fresh tattoo, once it has fully healed its fine, but personally i would recommend wait until you return home.
i would certainly agree with that
if your from the UK you will also be sweating your ass off in Abu Dhabi and i dont know if you have ever had a healing wound when you are sweating a lot but it will sting possibly get really shitty and infected.
Lots of sweat, dust and tats dont really mix
