    Hi there,

    I’m just coming up to my 18th and I’ve been wanting to get a tattoo for a long time but have been told that whilst your still growing, there not a good idea.

    I do go to the gym on the regs so my body size has changed quite a bit, is there any kind of thing where you should wait till a certain age to stop your bodies natural growth affecting your tattoo.

    And the next thing, I’m not quite sure if this goes here, but I thought I might as well just add it.

    Basically, I want the words “You Don’t Know What You Got, Until It’s Fucking Gone” either on my chest or arm. Cause I’m basically a novice at the tattoo side of things, is there any suggestions on how to go about getting it done?

    18 male, should be pretty much fully grown, you will have to have a huge growth spirt to make a difference.

    Question 2. Really think very very very very very hard about getting said quote on yourself. Just a little advice.

    I gotta agree with Scrubmuncher on that one.

    Having something like that can be a real turn off for a variety of reasons and if it is visible it will hinder your job prospects.

    I am all for getting tattoos of things that you believe in – I got a Lion of Judah and that alone has caused issues with other ppl. Takes some spine to sport controversial tats.

    My 2 pence worth is that you consider doing 2 things;

    1. Drop the word ‘fucking’ and replace with ‘Until it is gone’

    2. Get it done in say latin so at least you are not causing controversy at the drop of a hat.

    Good luck

    Gotta agree with the last two on the latter part of your question.

    I agree with the concept more than you could know – one of the most important people in my world died last month and your proposed quote is the one sentence that has been tossed around my head ever since – so it’s not that I’m not sympathetic to whatever your reasons are believe me.

    But having the word ‘fucking’ emblasoned on any part of your body is a bad idea if you ask me, particularly a body part that will be easily seen. The moment a future employer catches sight of that, you’re out the door. What if you have kids? Is that really a positive message to be sending. Age 5, just learnt to read, “Daddy, what’s ‘fucking’?”. At your age you can never know that you won’t have kids, I never thought I would and now I’m a happy mother aged just 21! You’ve gotta think about these things. The two suggestions the above poster gave are great ways of getting round it. Of course it’s your choice, but that’s just my advice. If you do go through with it, perhaps it might be an idea for you to buy a wad of transfer paper (you can buy this online and print your own transfers) and walk around with your proposed design for a year. If after the year, you are still in a place where you want to get it, then maybe you won’t regret it as much as I think you will. But it makes sense to take some time to think about stuff like this.
