Hey. Looking at getting a tatto something like http://i296.photobucket.com/albums/mm187… across the majority of my back and some sort of tribal armband. Right now I am really small 5’8” and 130 pounds, but am going into the army rangers where I will put on weight, the average ranger I think is about 160-170. Will this weight gain cause my tattoo to deform?
Also how do you think something that large would look on a smaller guy? Think it would look alright? I think this is my biggest worry. You normally only see bigger guys with this type thing. I have a farily wide back for my size but that still ain’t sayin much so I am worried it won’t look right.
One last thing. Would this conform to army regulations? Already signed up just waiting for my ship date so if anybody would know this or have a link to regulations all help is appreciated. Thanks

I couldnt get the link to work but I will give a general bit of advice.
First of all your tattoo would only noticiably change if you a. pump down a bucket of steroids and have veins that writhe b. Turn big and green and throw cars around.
The back area is least prone to weight gain or stretching – much less so than belly, thighs or arms.
As for a big tattoo on a small guy…
It will look fine because a decent artist will shape the tattoo to fit your back/shoulder breadth so even if you muscle up it will still suit your overall physique.
Also do not ever listen to the bullshit that you hear in offices, barracks, prisons whatever – be proud of your ink as you get it done for yourself.

As long as your ink doesn’t contain an arrow pointing down with the text “Insert Here”, you ought to be fine. From what I’ve been led to believe from my family and friends in the military, it’s one of the few places you’ll go where the tattooed individuals are nearly as numerous as the uninked.
There’s regulations, of course, the military’s got’em for everything, but from my understanding, they typically boil down to no swastikas, no racism, and they have to be coverable.
As for how it looks…dude you’re gonna be a fucking RANGER. Who the hell is going to give YOU shit about your ink? I’m just a guy with long hair and a Metallica t-shirt, and most people won’t say dick to my about my “I Feel Pretty” tattoo. If they won’t say it to me, who’s going to be dumb enough to fuck with a registered killing machine over their ink?
