    hello, i’m new here and i don’t usually do internet forums, so please forgive if i am asking for advice in the wrong forum.
    i am currently winding down my second tour in iraq and i am planning on getting tattooed when i get home. i already have a good amount of ink, but none of it pertains to my military life save a “72” i got on my right index (trigger) finger. look up islamic martyrs on google if you need help figuring out the meaning of that :). anyway, i am having trouble coming up with a piece to represent my journey over these last two tours. surprisingly enough, it’s not the war and iraq that i care to remember, it’s the trial it has put my family through. i have a wife and a daughter that doesn’t know much of her dad at this point, and they are the reason i have done everything. these deployments and army life in general have put us under great strain and more than a few times we have planned divorce. we always pull through-most of the time because both of us are stubborn and proud. anyway, i was thinking of a large piece-like a tree-to represent the sturdiness of my family. i just can’t get the premise down or maybe that just sucks anyway. anybody got any suggestions? thanx

    you could def do a huge “family tree” maybe with like dedication incorperated.
    depending what your into im sure there is some sort of tree in some culture that represents family. maybe do some research…

    very interested to see what you land on..

    ps: props to your work.

    I’m not very good at coming up with ideas, but have you thought about watching Miami Ink and LA ink. They have a lot of people with situations very similar to yourself and want tats for the same reason. Maybe you could get inspiration from there. Only trouble is you’ll probably end up wanting to fly out to Miami to get it done 😉

    Hi

    I have plenty of ideas but would need more info on your personal tastes;

    Do you want colour/black shade?
    The style do you want it portrait, surreal, memorandum, gothic, religious etc?

    My serious advice is kick back relax and try and get your head centred back on your family. The problem is with that type of job is part of your mind is still out there in the desert and your wife will want the 100% of you not the 3/4’s.

    You have done your bit for your country and I would consider something that means more family time.

    Take Care
    Matthew
