so i thought i had definitely chosen my studio but now i’m stuck between two of them. i’m definitely not experienced with this, i have one tattoo, that needs fixed because the lady who did it totally screwed it up with her crappy shading. anyway, there’s body art in berryville va. that was my first option, to go with jason. this is their link http://www.bodyarttattoostudio.com/ but i just heard about a place right here where i live, which will be much easier to stay local than drive almost 2 hours one way several times but quality is super important so… i was thinking shayne or matt at temple art looks pretty good, its a myspace and they have lots of pics, hope you can see it. http://www.myspace.com/templearttattoo i don’t really know how to tell what’s great work, i know the shaky line thing and stuff but i can’t usually see it till its pointed out. thanks anyone who has a good eye and an opinion, even if you say they both suck;)
Hi Crystal
I would have to say out of all of them I liked Shayne’s work at Temple Tattoo the best. This is just a personal preference on style, shading, and linework.
That said remember opinions are like arseholes – everybody has one.
My advice is forget the drive a day out of the rest of your life is nothing. You can always browse both studios before you get any work done.
When looking at the work consider these;
When looking at the tattoo artists which tattoo did you find yourself most drawn to? (The oen where you just had to keep looking back at it and thought wow).
Which artist has the most experience in the style of tattoo you have? EG No good going to an artist who specialises in new wave or punk and yours is a 50’s pin up.
How much rework/cover up do these artists have?
Once you know these answers you will be closer ondeciding who to go with.
Also I just have to say I really hated the layout of the bodyart tattoo site – goddamn I want to see a picture of their work not a sodding thumbnail that keeps disappearing.
Take Care
Matthew
thanks, i was actually liking shayne’s stuff too and the body art site is terrible, it took me forever to figure it out. i have actually been there several times with other people and know a lot of people who get work done by them, which is why i originally went that way, but you’re right, jason specializes in portraits which does me no good at all. i liked matt’s stuff originally until i looked really closely for a while, his symmetry seems off to me on a lot of it, but i’m no pro so who knows. i think i’ll go take a look at them this evening since they’re close enough to just drop by.
