    HI,
I’m wanting advice on tattoo removal from people who do the removal, and from those who have had it done please.
I had a tattoo done several weeks ago and I am not happy with it. It is small writing/numbers in single line/point in black. Some of the lines didn’t ‘take’ well, and some of the lettering/numbers are uneven. I complained and the shop owner tried to fix it up for me. However, it’s still not great, although better than it was.
What are my options and how good will the outcome be ie how much scarring will there be, how much residual ink will there be?. I’ve heard that it’s too early to have it lasered as the tattoo needs to be older, is this true? Has anyone heard of this http://www.tattooerase.com/index2.html, and is it any good?

    Cheers,Toby

P.S. I don’t want a cover up as I wanted this particular tattoo to be as discrete as possible

    Hi Toby

Yes I have heard of this treatment and first of all you need to leave the tattoo for around 6 weeks or 2 months to allow the skin below to settle and heal.

The simple fact is that neither this method or laser treatment are perfect. Whatever happens you run a small risk of scarring or pigmentation differences in the skin.

This means it could be lighter or darker or leave a faint outline of where the tattoo was.

I have tried very hard to find out what the chemical compound of Kataderm Fluid is but they are keeping close to their chests so I cannot really comment as all i can get is the marketing spiel.

Here is a link that shows a UK (Sheffield) example of Kataderm Fluid in use

To be honest the results are around the same as a laser – but may work better on green and yellow.

My advice is look it over and speak with a professional from both before you decide. They can both leave some scarring or discoloration – my advice lighten it until you can the same tattoo reworked by a pro.

    Take Care

It looks like the product can cause pigment issues.

I had laser removal on a lower back tattoo and am in the process of getting another one removed. You can no longer tell there was ever a tattoo there. It does have a slight scar of the outline of the tattoo, probably from being tattoed too deep but really you can’t see it. I only see it because I know where the tattoo was.
