To me, that reads as if he wants to find a shop that would take him as an apprentice so he could start tattooing. That could just be me reading it wrong though.

your actually not allowed to talk about the tech side of tattooing here if your not a pro tattooist .
but i would have thought in stead of phoning tattoo shops you would be better to go in and actually show them your drawing skills .

Unlicensed tattoo discussion isn’t allowed on this forum. If you want an apprenticeship I can tell you how to get it or how to find out whether it will ever happen.

First, find a studio that does the quality of work you want to learn how to do.

Second, pay the tattooist there to tattoo work on you, and go back several times to get more work done.

Third, Make friends with him or her and spend time getting to know the people there

Fourth, offer to wash floors, empty trash, clean bathrooms, ect. Do it for free.

When you become a semi-permanant fixture there…after several months, take some of your artwork there and ask the artist to help you with some advice on how to do it better.

After a few times of this, ask them if they think you could ever be a tattooist, and begin talking to them about an apprenticeship.

In the meantime take all of the tattoo equipment you have, place it in a box and put it somewhere far out of your reach. Quit doing tattoos on people when you have not been trained to do it properly.

Finally, listen and learn without screwing people up in the process.
