I didnt know if there was a site, or someplace that you can get accurate, up to date kanji
I know there are different translations for every symbol, and that some are “outdated”
so i want to make sure i get the right ones
me and my bro are wantin to get matchin tattoos, the specific symbols we want are:
Brotherhood
Wisdom
Faith
Ive googled them and found some but i found a few different ones so i didnt know if someone on here had a catalog of accurate symbols, or knew one that was trustworthy online.
Thanks for any input
Also, i was lookin for a way to spruce it up a ltitle so it isnt just two symbols.
Should i jsut tell my artist I’m wantin a filler in the letter, or just some shading in the back?
Or do i need to have a more specific idea of what im wanting before i talk to him?
Hey,
I use this site all the time to get accurate kanji. It’s a real person translating it instead of some innacurate online translator. This site is great.

There is a fee, but at least you know you’re getting exactly what you want and you won’t be stuck with a tattoo that means something terrible. Good Luck!

i have never heard the saying that kanji goes out of date ???? might be my ignorance
Thanks Custom, yea id def rather pay and get the right symbol than be a cheapo and get the wrong one
dont wanna end up like britney spears and try to get “mysterious” and end up getting “strange” lol
And Outlaw, i may be wrong
i jus thought there was an “old” kanji and a “new” kanji, but like i said, that might not be right
any ideas on how to spruce it up?
ive been thinkin either japanese style background shading, or a scroll
anyone ever seen a kanji with a cool filler?
any other ideas i can take to the artist?
Hi
There is modern and traditional characters and some sites literally use a sounds like approach rather than the exact cultural/language translation.
They don’t go out of date it is just that there are a lot of unscrupulous bastards out there who will try and sell any old shite to the unwary.
You are doing the right thing in getting it checked out.
I do have a friend who is from Hong Kong and is fluent in Chinese (worked as a translator) but although they know a little spoken Japanese they may struggle with written.
If you want Chinese I can get a pdf done for you with the words from them otherwise if Japanese I would recommend a professional translation service or grab a japanese to english dictionary and check it out.
Take care
Matthew
ok thanks.
yea i will probably pay for the site that Custom gave me
I like the idea of a person doin it of course, and i like that we will get a couple fonts to choose from
i figure i never price shop for a tattoo, i go to the person i feel comfortable with so y would i price shop when finding the right words.
thanks for the help guys.
any tips on jazzing up a kanji tatt, instead of just a few symbols?
like backgrounds or fillers?
So is Kanji japanese? and Not chinese?
I just noticed that the site you gave me Custom says its chinese lettering, which i really didnt pay attention to until i saw Sheravs post
i dont necessarily have a preference for either, i just assumed it was Kanji. Its not like i can read either one, so which ever is more aesthetically pleasing is fine with me
So Sherav, you think ur friend could translate “Wisdom” “Brotherhood” and “Faith” for me?
Well i was just gettin ready to get on that site provided by Custom and get a translation but now i noticed it says his account is banned….
Does anyone know why he was banned?
Is the information he gave me about this site trustworthy?
the info he gave you no
the site itself yes its probably fine.
