    Hey all.

I’ve just been curious the last couple weeks. Can different sources of light affect the way a tattoo appears? For example, can bright sunlight affect the color of a tattoo to the naked eye as opposed to say an indoor Tungsten light. I ask because it seems that (for me at least) my tattoos seem to appear lighter when I am outside in bright sunlight then when I am indoors and am under lights of different color temperature.

    Hi

Yes all light effects the eye’s colour spectrum so when looking at anything coloured it will appear different under different lighting – it is how our brain translates it.

This is because all colours are effected by the way light bends to either enhance or darken a colour.

Tattoos are especially effected as the brain has to pick out the tattoo against the complex colour of your skin.
