I am thinking of getting a tattoo, but can I go to boxing the same day? I train 6days a week so I COULD go on a Saturday and rest it then and then MAYBE take sunday off…but I would have to go to training on monday
What are my options? Thanks.
if you catch it on something or if somebody hits it then your going to be sorry….. its either have the tattoo and miss ya training for a week (thats the shortest period) or dont get it .
it dont add to much but thats my best advice
Advice taken! A week seems a pretty long time and if im going to be ther efor 3-4 sittings thats a months worth of training im going to miss and not sure I can do that 🙁
where are you gonna get the tatt at on ur body?
is it somewhere that would be hit alot?
i was playin bball pretty soon after i got the cross on my back, if it gets hit or ne thing i does hurt, but it didnt seem to have an affect on the tattoo itself
The tatto is going to be on my left shoulder coming down to my chest so they aren’t exactly the main target zones but my shoudlers come in handy when blocking….what if I just missed out on sparring for a week would I still be able to do just physical exercise…pushups…sit ups…punching the bag etc. etc. ?
yea i think it would be fine
i just got these tatts on my calf thursday and im goin to play bball in an hour
that sounds like the best idea, no sparring but still lifting and all that
Think of it this way.. if you have a wound on you that’s healing.. is it good to continuously stretch the sides of the wound apart? It will not heal if it’s not left alone.
Tattoo’s are nothing but wounds in your skin.

I finished some work on a Golden gloves boxer here a while back. He also does Cage fights and trains daily. My advice was to stay out of the ring, sparring or otherwise for a week. Do no excercises the following two days, then keep his excercising to non contact, ie. running hitting the bag, shadow boxing, push ups, sit ups, ect. After every work out cleanse the tattoo thouroughly. shower, clean it, dry it, then put something on it to keep it moist.
You can go back to boxing in a week. If the tattoo is extensive grit your teeth and sit through it til its finished. I just finished a four hour sitting on a guys back. I cover a lot of ground in 4 hours. Yeah it hurts, but hell, you get beat up for a living, what’s a little more pain? That way you only need to sit out once.
i wouldnt if i was you . leave it a week .

I think this may be my bext option, get it done on friday, leave it till monday and then when I get back…no contact until the following monday ??
If I could stand the pain I would do it in 1 sitting, but it’s my 1st tattoo so I have no idea how i’m going to cope:D
I’ve had my last two sessions done on a Friday afternoon/night, then played footy the next day (not soccer or gridiron, you get hit and tackled mighty hard in it though) and the tattoos ended up fine. I covered them, but I didn’t get a direct really hard hit on it though…
Honestly, I find that funny. you guys live with pain. You work out until your muscles scream. You beat each other to a bloody pulp, then you get sqeamish over a four hour tattoo? Dude, I’ve tattooed women longer than that. Not just women, but…like, housewives who don’t work, don’t fight, don’t work out. They hang kids off their hip and cook and clean all day, and they can take it while talking on a phone and cracking jokes. I had one of those gals fall asleep on me while I was tattooing on her back!
Then you get the big bad biker, or the boxer, you know the real tough guy with the real tough guy image, and their like…I dunno if I can take it.
Ha!
Give me a break.

I’ve never once gave it the tough guy image, just because I box doesn’;t mean I enjoy the pain…you never get used to being smacked in the face…you clearly have got no idea about the aspect of boxing….to hit and not be hit…
Thanks all the same for your comment.
haha while i was in the tattooist chair last friday a guy over on the next station had 3 ten minute breaks from getting tattooed while i just sat it out 😀
