anyone know any in the uk at the moment ?
Hi
I know that Eternal Images do/did(?) have an artist who specialised in Maori and Mayan style tattoos.
I don’t think they were native but did some fine work.

Might help you.

do they use traditional tapping method ?
Hi
As far as I am aware they use a machine but when I looked at the work they had done and traditional stuff there was not much between it.
Obviously the tapping method leaves a slightly more ragged puncture in the skin.
It really depends on what you are after.
If it is the bone/stick tapping exp I can only really recommend checking tattoo conventions in UK or travelling over for a piece.
Give them a ring friendly enough bunch of peeps – might be able to point you in right direction.

Are you maori?
i would think thats something you will have to travel to get done .
i have never heard of any one getting a traditional tapping method here in the uk.
i think that conventions will be your best bet of finding out .
http://www.mokoink.com/ you may have to travel to get the right thing.
Just curious, if you’re not Maori, why would you be looking for Maori tattooing?
Is it just the technique you want, or actual Moko?
I don’t mean any offence, I’m just wondering.
I see so many tribal tattoos around, and wonder how many of them actually have meaning to the person wearing them.
Makes me sad to see people wearing my culture and not giving a crap what it means.
sorry PeitaLouise
but until buckley has commented more about why he / she wants the tattoo your attitude is being very judgemental
I didn’t mean to be judgemental at all, i’m sorry it came across that way.
I’m just interested in why people get the tattoos they get, not just Buckley or people getting tribal pieces.
I’m okay with people getting tribal pieces because they like the look, hell, I can hardly say my tattoos have a deep and personal meaning.
I was just curious.
Sorry if I offended anyone.:(
people are just drawn towards things i guess , maybe its from a pervious life 😀
im a buddhist and believe in all that stuff
I can see peta louise point here, i’m from NZ and there’s alot to maori designs, i will not do facial tattoos, Ta moko, they should be done with permission and in the right way. I will do contemporary maori designs that mean absolutely nothing, but if someone comes in from a particular tribe and want their stuff i ask them to seek permission from their elders first and also get it drawn up before bringing it to me. It can be highly offensive to maori. I cant see why buckley if not maori would want a maori tattoo done in the traditional way, i dont honestly think anyone would do it.
