Is there a limit to how detailed one can get with an image they want as a tattoo? The tattoo I want has really fine lines and very tiny spots.
You can easily create a very fine tattoo with a tattoo needle (I’ve seen some AMAZINGLY intricate pics turned into tattoos) but with time it will blur out and all the tiny lines will become a fog.
Hi as Arni has stated it is not so much the detail that can be done it is the blurring of the detail due to erosion within the skin.
Many very fine lines and small dots simply blur to blobs 🙁
Post up what you ant doing will help us gauge better.

I was thinking of doing that image but if I can’t get it without all those little lines then I might as well not do it
I doubt this could ever translate into a good tattoo without losing major detail… and it’s the details that make this picture what it is.
Yes he is me favorite artist
thats never really gonna work bro, with time tattoo ink spreads under the skin, causing lines to get thicker, lighter etc. etc.
that tattoo would just go into a black blotch
Hi
The only way to get it to work would be to take some of the fine line strokes and re-create them as shading slashes and thicken up a few lines.
The overall picture is more than doable but would need to reconsider the details so they do not blob in 10 years.

you could get that but it needs to be large !!
How big would it have to be? Is there a tattoo that I could look at to see how detailed it can get without it getting blurred in a few years?
if it was on your side or back and was pretty big you could have most of that detail with no problems . .
the is a body jewellery forum 😉 which also has a tattoo section called ink porn which has a few samples of this style of tattoo ..
even if an artist didnt do all the lines in the pic you have shown it would have that drawn / graffiti feel to it.
actually just out of interest how large was you planning on having it done ?
I was thinking about the size of a hand and I was going to put it on my chest
Hi
Unless you have really big hands i would suggest going 1.5x bigger so that it can really show the detail.
A chest panel with a drop 3/4’s to the ribs edge would be an ideal size (hard to say in inches as no idea on your frame).
The easiest way to think of it is for detail big is better you don’t have to go full back but try not to cram it into the size of a fist.
