I think text in general sucks.

But especially last names.

Why…in the hell?

Really. Why?

for me it was pretty much just going to be a representational thing, plus i’ve seen it on someone before and it looks sooo goood

Useful if your the kind of person who fills in a lot of forms with your name but has a memory like a goldfish….

OK lets try that with less subtle humour and more ironic realism.

They are a crap idea unless youi are too thick to remember your own name.

and if you actually wrote what i put i said it’s a representational thing, and again i used to think the same way but my thoughts altered

Hi

Well the thing with it is that you can make any tattoo look awesome as long as you get the right artist/font/style etc.

That said there is always the counter argument that even if you choose an awesome font and excellent artist – it is still your last name. What do you do if you decided to change names?

Think of it this way your skin is the most precious canvas you have and would you want to waste it with a name?

If you still feel that is what you want then go for it – if you have a split second of doubt choose something else because it is on for life and tastes change as you get older.

Take Care
Matthew

Representational…
Of your last name.
A prideful homage to the countless hordes of others…who share the last name…who you are also paying homage to…even not knowing them in the slightest….
AWESOME.

Seriously though, and introduction usually goes as such:

Hi, I’m Mark Smith *extend hand*
Oh, hello MARK SMITH.

End of transaction.
No further form of identification needed.

im not really into text or last name tattoos. but if it means something to you than it really doesnt matter what anyone else thinks. but if you think about it, what is the difference between last name tattoos and family crest tattoos.

not only that but also if you guys want to really get “critical” look at some of everyones tattoo’s, most people get a tattoo for its look, i’ve seem=n the silliest tattoo’s here

I think it’s a great idea…. Does alzheimer’s run in your family? If you get this tattoo you could put your address on there too so people know where to send you when you wander off.

Ok OK, Seriously, no more joking around. Your tattoo, your body. The title of your post was “Opinions” and that’s what you are getting. Clearly the people on this forum think it’s a lame idea but to your point, we have some shitty ink too. The difference? we aren’t asking for opinions. These tattoos mean something to us and therefore what other people think of them doesn’t really matter. Ergo, if you really think getting a tattoo of your last name is a good idea and it means something to you, why do you give a fly rats ass what a bunch of strangers think anyway?

Anyway, just my .02. It’s easier to laugh along with us than get pissed when we don’t like what you are doing.

Hi there,

I would not get my last name tattooed. I would maybe a first name of a child or loved one. But not my surname.
Even if it looks awesome.
