Hey,
I am scheduled to get a tattoo on my left rib cage on Saturday, but yesterday I noticed a bump near my nipple which my doctor said was most likely a clogged or infected hair follicle or pore. I have been trying to figure out if there is any reason that I would not be able to get my tattoo on Saturday because of this? If anyone could help that would be great. I have been trying to find an answer all day. Thank you

I really don’t have an answer for you, but more of a suggestion. Have you tried talking to your artist? A good artist will not work on you if you have a health issue that may complicate things. So if you have not spoken to your artist, try that.

Why not talk to your doctor about it? If he’s already seen the area, you could probably give him a quick call and address your concerns.
While a good artist should not be willing to work on you if you have any possible health complications, they are not health professionals.

I assume it wouldn’t be a big deal.
But to reiterate: talk to your artist.

In my mind…the worst that could happen is he wouldn’t be able to tattoo that one spot…and would need a 45 second touch-up after your bump heals.

My artist actually did that with a friend of mine…
Had him come back in after an ingrown hair was healed and filled that dot in.

You need to ask your doctor first to see if there is any medical reason to not do it and then to your artist to make sure it will not interfer with the design. This should be common sense.

Hi

You should have not have work done over skin that is damaged, swollen, sunburned or has moles or in-growing hairs, or cysts.

The pigment will not stay in very well and you are opening up a damaged area of skin which could lead to secondary infection.

The reason is that the clogged area is filling with dead white blood cells and will likely need extracting with an incision or syringe and should only be done by your GP.

You could most likely get the rest of your tattoo done but you want to leave a clear space of at least 1cm around the area concerned.

I would suggest getting the Dr to lance it (they sometimes suggest letting them go down naturally) do not poke or pick at it because you will risk getting an infection from your mitts.

Take Care
Matthew
