Hey guys, I’m getting a cover up next friday, and i currently have a pink/tan skintone color (a solid cross) and i want to re-do it in a red color, (then tan/pink is not as solid as i would have liked)

so questions:

1. do you think red would cover up well on a pink skintone color
2. how is the fading on red ink?
3. what would be the best color name for the red ink? how should i best describe the color i wish to get to my tattoo artist?

Here is my current tattoo, and here are some colors i found on the internet which i like, i want a red color, but not a super bright cherry red, more of a subtle darker red.

here is the color i’m going for

here is a crappy photo of what i got going on now.
(just a note, this pic, is about a week after i got it, so its still a bit scabby, but its all healed now, and have had it for about a year)

Well, I am no professional, so take this with a grain of salt:

A) Any darker color should cover such a light one without problems.
B) No idea about fading, but red is the most likely to cause allergic reactions.
C) Honestly, just print those pics out, or even stop at the next hardware/paint store and grab one of those wall-paint sample leaflets. Bring material with you, point to color and say: “I want something like this”.

i’m just worried about my artist mixing colors to get the shade i like, i’m afraid if i have to go back to do a touch up or anything they wont be able to mix the exact color again.
i was hopeing there was a pre mixed color that would be close to what i’m wanting, because later i want to do another tattoo in the same color around my ankle.

AFAIK, there’s nothing ‘exact’ about tattooing.

All ink fades, and there original color is no more, ever again.

Just like with car painting, colors need to be blended to be approximate, and then faded into each other.
