I got a large tattoo on my lower leg this past June. It didn’t completely heal and I have had severe itching, raised thick & cloudy skin, scabbing, etc. I finally had to go to Dermatologist Specialist and was told that I have a severe allergy to the red, brown, black and green inks in my tattoo. The Dr. said that I have acute contact dermititis and gave me a steriod lotion to use. The lotion worked really well the first few days, but now my tattoo is really starting to itch extremely bad again. The Dr. told me that I am not able to get any touch-ups to my tattoo and that I will never be able to get another tattoo again. The Dr. also said that my tattoo is going to take a very long time to heal because I am so allergic to the inks.

Has anyone ever gone through this with a tattoo and was able to get it to finally heal and stop itching with treatment/medication? Are there any resources where I can find out more on what has helped other people that have had the same/similar severe allergic reaction to tattoo inks? Any help would be really appreciated.
