Is it location, price, attitude, quality of tattooing, etc? Would you rather get a good tattoo from an @$$hole or, get a bad tattoo from someone that treats you well?

A tattoo is a big commitment and once it’s on your body, there is no turning back. So, quality of work is top priority, and attitude would probably be 2nd for me. I would gladly pay more money and travel a little bit to work with a great artist. I would not feel comfortable giving my money to an artist who treats their customers like crap. But I would never, ever compromise the quality of a tattoo just because the artist was a nice guy. There is never a good reason to get a bad tattoo.

Definately quality and fine art. I dont give a crap if the bloke is a cock, i dont intend on having his babies. Why do i care about his attitude?!

But the guy who is doing mine is a sweetheart, with talent 😀

Quality of work is #1. I could deal with a little attitide for a few hours. I would not get a crappy tattoo from anyone.

I walked out of the apparent best tattoo place in Sheffield cos the chick talked to me like I was dirt. Told her she could shove it. There’s no reason for a good artist to get so damn full of themselves that they turn into dick heads. The place I go to now (Irezumi in Sheffield) is amazing. Local, reasonably priced, awesome people, great work. It’s is king in my opinion cos it’s the right balance of everything.

For me its style and quality. If tattooers style and quality doesn’t fit what I’m looking for ill move on. I would definitly travel for great ink. I respect and admire a lot of great tattooers work like Paul booth and niko hurtado. But I dont know if I would get work from them because of the style of tattoos they do.

As long as my artist is putting high quality art on me and it’s the art that I am interested in I don’t care if he/she is a complete douche bag. It’s not like we are going to live with each other or work in the same office.

Now, if we can’t even come together on a design, that’s a whole different story. If I can’t trust that what I want is what I’ll get there’s no way I’m going to sit.

you should go by reputation. and look at his/her portfolio if the work is good and you see fresh and healed pics its a clean friendly enviroment then go for it

Cleanliness of the shop! And then quality of work. The other stuff is not so important. I’d pay top price and travel pretty far to get a great tattoo from a douche before I’d sacrifice on either cleanliness or quality.

The skills of the artist are what pulls me first, then I require a good ‘feel’ from the shop. It needs to look clean… because who am I to say what actually IS clean and what isn’t. The cling-film for instance, used on every surface and then on you after the ink, isn’t sterile or anything. So I have to trust the artist to be clean and safe. And he can’t be lazy or need constant smoking/coffee breaks.

He can be boring or a prick for all I care.. I’m not a tattoo talker anyway. I just want spectacular ink done in a reasonable time.
