according to one of the country’s most respected clerics, Nayimi Sheik Mohammed, Saudi law prohibits tattoos, no matter what their form
That sucks. ๐
Ahh Saudi Arabia, where the women aren’t allowed to drive or vote or go out in public without a male escorting them…. Bin Laden came from there, not surprisingly.
That’s CRAZY just another reason I’m glad to be living g in the good ole u s a
Be careful – there are those who want the USA to abide by similar, religiously based laws. ๐
No doubt. Reminds me of that nutty Phelps family that boycott funerals and such. Not quite the same as the Saudis but just as bad.
Please, let’s stop discussing them. They very clearly are being paid by somebody, and the less attention they get, the faster they go away.
Yeah I was just reading about that. ๐ In the case of the USA, I imagine the laws would be based on Christianity, which is one hell of a scary thought.
Yep.
Our own “Sharia” law…
Well, I am from Saudi Arabia.. ๐
From what I read in the article, it seems the athelete had his tattoos exposed while walking in a shopping mall. Being a player for Al-Nasr club which is located in Riyadh (where you have the most fanatic moral police idiots roaming every mall and public area) he should have been advised not to show his tattoo.
Believe it or not, there are many Saudis with tattoos, the majority of them get the tattoos done by themselves or by a friend with a needle and eyeliner powder. Mostly small, written stuff about a loved one as pictures are hard to do with such a traditional method.
Those who get to travel abroad -men and women- get tattoos at regular tat shops but still conceal them from others as it’s still considered taboo, unreligious, and even ‘haram’ in Islam.
I’m getting tattoos in NYC soon, but I’m sure I won’t have them exposed where I expect to see the moral police, at a mosque, or when I’d expect to see religiously strict people even in my own house.
Beduin women have always had tattoos, FACIAL TATTOOS, right on their chins by cutting the skin and inserting fresh green tree leaves that get absorbed by the skin, leaving a faint-green color tattoo.
