i want to get words in thai written just under the shoulder on the left side of my back. i want something meaningful. i’ve been ill with anorexia over the last few years and i want something that reminds me of why i need to keep trying but i can’t think of anything that seems perfect. i was considering ‘someday you will be loved’ or something like that. any thoughts?

Nothing immediately comes to mind. You can always hit the artist up for ideas if nothing comes to you.

Definitely not DCFC lyrics. =)

Seriously though…use your own words so you can take strength from them. Think of what inspires YOU to fight to recover. Use that.

i decided! i’m going to get sylvia plath, ‘i took a deep breath and listened to the old bray of my heart. i am. i am. i am’… very excited!

Another lame text tattoo idea. Forget the words and come up with an image to represent them. Personally, I don’t like long text tattoos, they lack artistic creativity and really don’t make for a nice tattoo. This means so much to you and yet you’re putting it on your back where it can’t even be seen by you? Well, to each their own so good luck but if it were me I’d get that quote on a t-shirt and get a real tattoo.

well, to be honest… i have an image on my breast and i want something written… i love text tattoos and i actually prefer them to images. i find images a little tacky, no offence to anyone who has them but that’s just my personal opinion and as you were quite vocal about yours re. text tattoos i think it’s reasonable to voice it. thanks for your input though.

I completely agree with Adler, but that’s just my opinion. If you think text tattoos are nicer then who are we to disagree. The only important thing when getting a tattoo is that YOU like it. Good luck with your new ink!

Enough with the text tattoos already. Tattooers hate doing them. But if you must get it, please tip your tattoo artist at least 100%, for making his/her dream job lame.

okay, to be honest i appreciate your opinions but i think you’re being very harsh on something that i’m really quite excited about… i love written tattoos and i think they carry easily as much meaning as an image, especially if the text means something to you…

Don’t stress it. Being an asshole is not just accepted but pretty well expected here. The common courtesy of polite disagreement or “if you don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say anything” is rarely found here.

If you like text tattoos, get them. I have only one, a short phrase in Latin, but with very important meaning for me. It didn’t need accompanying imagery, as it was the words that are vital to me. (Besides, putting an image on my kneecap wouldn’t have worked, int he small space.)

Image tats may well show more creativity, but the whole point of getting inked is to have a permanent reminder of something special to YOU.

Get what you want but beware that trendy tattoos just look lame in a few years. If you must get text tattoo pick a font and have it big enough that it won’t just blur out in a couple of years.

I’d rather have an honest opinion than a bunch of people sugar coating their real feelings. Or people not saying anything at all because I may not like to hear it.

There is a huge difference between being hones and being a dickhead.

If my daughter is wearing a shirt that is unflattering to her body type, I can tell her that in several different ways and still get my point across.

Perhaps it’s merely a difference in personality and perspective, but I simply don’t feel the need to say, “Holy shit you look fat. Are you trying to look like the Pillsbury Dough Porn, or did you just get dressed in the dark?”
