My friend is just awesome at street art and pretty well known around London.I am currently trying to promote him and get canvases sold of his art.
We had a chat and thought about tattoo he could do.
Is there a market for this type of tattoo?
He is very good at drawing this stuff colours etc on small and then taking it to large scale outside.
What would the transition be from street artist to tattooist, difficult?
I will link some of his art, just a small fraction.
I know an old school Grafitti artist from USA that used to write with the name Seen and was part of the very popular film called Style Wars in the 80s. He is now a tattoo artist, not sure where.
Would anyone here get a piece like this?
this type of work is considered part of new skool here in the US……it is popular among clients but looked down upon by some of the countires best artists, I think they think it is too kids stuff, I really enjoy it, as well as many other styles,
currently one of the contestants of the US TV show Ink Masters on Spike TV (can be seen at spike tv website) Josh Woods of Black 13 Tattoo in Nashville is training a graffitti artist to be a tattoo artist.
Marty “Riet” McEwen is Josh’ personal aprentice, I htink he is at his second year and is tattooing well. The progression from very bad ass graffitti artist to tattoo artist has been tough, tougher than I thought it would be for him
Everyone is different, the tattoo machine is very heavy, unbalanced and I cannot imagine working with it in my hand, but yes it can be done
There are a few graf artists turned tattooists (grime, mike giant, mr cartoon, honkey kong, etc) but wildstyle never translates into good tattoos for some reason. Maybe your friend could change that?
Hey guys thanks for the input.
Yeah I guessed it wouldn’t be so easy just to pick up a machine and rock.
He can do many styles, he just prefers wildstyle but he is just as good with ordinary letters or pictures. We were also looking into fonts but I have no idea as to where to start with that lol

Took a look, he’s good and my friend could do those no problem. Maybe he should look in to it as at the moment all he does is his graf on the weekend and looks after his 2 kids.
I think a wildstyle would work very well on a larger scale like a full sleeve, what do you think?
i guess it all depends on the artist, but i have seen a few wildstyle tattoos and none of them looked good. i think (my theory) is its harder to get those kind of color blends with skin and tattoo ink than it is with spray paint and other mediums.
Your probably right ๐
i think if he can pull it off there will be a good demand tho. i see people looking for graf style tattoo artists fairly often.
Yeah was my thinking also. I don’t think many or anyone is doing this in the UK?
Cant hurt to try can it ๐
One thing though, hes not practising on me lol
Cant hurt to try can it ๐
cant hurt at all. but just keep in mind that first he has to build a portfolio (which it seems like he has), score an apprenticeship (which can last a couple years) before he can start tattooing. if he has the determination i say go for it. looks like he has really good artistic talent.
