hi guys im new here so i hope i put this in the right spot! ok I’m not exactly sure what I wanna get on my back. But I want it to be a full back tattoo that tells a story of what ive been through with significant details to things in my story. My story is when I was 9 years old my parents got into drugs and made some bad choices and i was scarred with some of the things i saw and still remember to this day. my dad ended up in jail for 6 years , and my mom spent a little time in a jail as well as stuck with tons of community service. at this time my mom wasn’t able to take care of me and my brother neither financially nor mentally she was not in the right state of mind. So me and my brother were going to end up in foster care but my grandparents from my dads side took us in and raised us for the next 6 years until I was 15 right after my freshman year in highschool, my dad got out of prison and got on a great path and we ended up living with my parents from then on and they have been sober ever since. but I just want the tattoo to represent the things ive been through because as a kid its hard to grow up without your real parents and have kids ask you all the time why you live with your grandparents, and you have to lie to them and make up an excuse. but I don’t want it to be a sad tattoo because it was by far not the worse thing that couldve happened to me and my brother we were blessed to have such caring grandparents and i want that represented too. Lastly, im not mad at the situation i was placed in because i learned a lot and grew into the person I am today. So thats my story and i want to potray it in a full back tattoo something that can describe my story i just dont have that creative mind. thanks for all the help!

Shitty story and one that happens a lot and shouldn’t!
I would go for a beautiful back piece, fresh and uplifting mood to it. I wouldn’t go for a depressive tattoo. Most important is to get a top notch artist and we can help you with that, so good for coming and asking first. At least hopefully you will get a back piece you love and wont be lasering it off some day 🙂
Where are you based?
I live in phoenix az. But will be attending nau in flagstaff az but would be willing to travel for the perfect piece. But yea I didn’t want a depressing piece more like something’s that starts out bad at the bottom but by the time you get to the top its all good and happiness! @peterpoose 131029 wrote:

There are some good artists in az. Josh hagan is someone I would recommend. Also paolo acuna. Hell city is a big convention happening in a few weeks and there are some world class artists that will be there. Top 5 convention in usa for sure.

That’s what they do. Tell them your thoughts and let them utilize their creativity. You’ll get a kick ass tattoo.

When a tattoo artist draws a specific tattoo for you most will charge you a deposit that goes to the cost of the tattoo. This covers their time should you go someplace else. They may give you some rough sketches, but the actual artwork probably won’t leave his shop. That’s why you check the artist’s portfolio of other tattoos he’s done. Do you know anybody with a great tattoo? Ask who the artist was that did theirs.
