Just got this on my back about a week ago. I’m guessing I have it uploaded to my album correctly. If you are not familiar with it, check out google. Let me know what you think. I’m also up here for some advice on changing it. If you look at the pic you will notice that the human and satellite are off centered with my back slightly. It was not the artist’s fault… thats how the “message” was originally sent. I know you are thinking, damn man you should have noticed that before…. oh well. I want to know of somethings you all recommend to get it centered. Was thinking about coming back with some color, but I’m open to suggestions. And on another note, I have to dress up Mon through Friday(high school math teacher here) and I’m using A+D ointment. Even though I’m wearing a tshirt between the tat and my dress shirt I still get a few spots on my $$ shirts. Any tips on washing the A+D out?

    Hi

That is one beautiful piece. Damn shame that no alien life force responded :p

    I love it!

    Suggestions –

I am thinking that with the style of tat you could go colour with some nucleotides or the human helix for DNA weaving through the msg.

Also you could perhaps go for some symbolic mathematical equations using pure maths (I am useless at maths but you get my drift).

If you wanted a more comical look you could have an alien with a mobile (cell) on your shoulder 😀

I was advised to use silk (t-shirt) for comfort on a new tat as like you I have to cover up.

Thanks for the advice man. I’m taking that the off “centeredness” doesn’t catch you as much as it does me. I guess since its on me I’m one to notice the slightest difference in something. I’m actually wearing silks too. Maybe I should have emphasized that. However, I’m still getting spots on my dress shirts. Does spray and wash deal with this? With the color… I am considering bordering the nucleotides and DNA as you have mentioned… along with the human and satellite.

Haha… oh yeah… this message was sent back in 1974. They said it could take as much as a century for a response. Would love to be around then… probability unlikely. I just think the universe is too damn big for this beautiful planet to be the only one that supports life….. and intelligence.

    Hi

So it is slightly off centre it is a great (and I will say quirky :)) tattoo that you should wear with pride!

The damp spots is something that has to be put up with I am afraid.

But here is a tip (from my murky past lol) to get blood out of a shirt there are several methods that work really well.

Salt water plenty of salt in some cold water and work it into the stain let it sink in before a prewash – usually lifts it out.
Baking powder can also be used but not good for anything but cotton.

I am not sure what spray and wash is but if it is like our UK vanish it will lift blood but on coloureds have to test as can leave it looking paler.

Silks should be dry cleaned or hand washed – if hand washing add a few drops of clear vinegar and salt to the water it helps the blood breakdown.

Think I’m gonna see what the dry cleaners can do with it too. Going back in 2 weeks for touch ups and what not. Will be sure to post new pics. Thanks for the comment though man. The lady on your shoulder is a nice piece as well.

the piece does look off centered slightly when comparing to the reference, but to be fair, your not going to walk around and people caan tell the difference just by looking….. it is a nice piece in an unusual way lol…

as for the blood stains, as said already, you are going have to put up with it im affraid. just dont be tempted to recover the work while at work….. it needs to breath to be able to heal properly.

It’s not the blood stains that I’m trying to get rid of. It’s the oily stains from the a+d ointment.

a good strong detergent should remove the greasy stains, as you had the piece done a week ago then there should be no need to continue using a+d and just a none scented moisturiser should be sufficiant.

    It’s different.

    I like it.

I don’t think I would have noticed that it is off center if you had not of said anything.

Wisk detergent has always worked best for me when I used to use A&D…but I have a problem with the fish oil that’s in it…so I no longer use it. If you pour Wisk full strength on the stain and rub it in a bit, then use the warmest water you can to wash the shirt it comes out most of the time.

Okay, because I think of weird things and I’ve managed towork 3 16 hours days straight…I’ve got something you could incorporate (somehow) that might be kinda neat. You could use the binary string of the arecibo message…perhaps around the actual mesage itself…and because I want to win my own personal contest for longest post…here is the binary string of the Arecibo message:
