I’m new and thought I’d put my tattoos out there..let me know what you think!
And apparently didn’t post the pictures like I thought I did…stupid internet…
Try using photobucket to host your pictures and them link them here.
Good luck.
Hi Heartflower
I love the ink.
The flower on your foot reminded me of a drawing I once saw in Amsterdam. A very subtle piece, the shading almost looks like blown chalk – beautiful.
I love the flower on your arm as well – is it going to remian a black & shade? (If it is a small constructive criticism is that I would personally add some more shadow and shade along the petals, and maybe create a shadow effect under the leaves and stem. it would make a great tattoo stunning).
The butterfly piece is lovely – is there any chance of a close up so we can see the line work better?
The text is also very nice – well spaced, tight lines, nice font. Can I ask who or what is the message aimed at?
Thanks for sharing your ink.
Matthew
I Love the “I carry…” inscription. Really beautiful!
its very easy to upload your photo’s to the forums album manager and they will then be included into the competitions etc
You can reach it through the quick menu or from the link above your name in any post
Thanks ๐
The lotus on my foot is probably my favorite tattoo at the moment, though I love all of mine for different reasons. I got it about a month ago now, and I’ve had people tell me it’s the one that represents me the best.
The rose was my first tattoo, and looks the way it does largely because of my friend Kari, who had gotten tattoos before and gave me some good advice while I was talking to the artist. I like the fact that it’s simple, and for the most part when people ask if I’ll ever get it colored in, I say no, though I hadn’t ever thought about adding in anything now that I know a bit more about tattoos….thank you for the suggestion, Matthew!!
Here is a close up of the butterfly
This is right after it was done..
This is it now.
The text is another of my favorites. It’s from the ee cummings poem “i carry your heart” There’s a part that says “and its you are whatever a moon has always meant and whatever a sun will always sing is you” Hence the moon. I’d really like to try and incorporate a sun on the other side to balance it out, and find a way of working the whole poem in ink….
I’d had the idea of trying to work a tree out of lines of poetry to go up my back to try and tie together the two I have on my sides, but as of right now it’s only an idea…I’m a writer not an artist lol.
It’s got meaning to me because I was at a time in my life when I realized that compassion was incredibly important, and that there isn’t enough love in the world (if you’ll excuse the hippie sentiment). I think that when we meet people, we love them in some basic form, even if it isn’t the “I want to marry you and have your babies” kind of love. And that’s an important thing to take care of. There was also an important man in my life at the time, and those two lines of the poem were ones we often signed the end of letters with. He’s got a moon tattoo that’s the opposite of mine, to kind of balance it out and go with mine…
Wow, I have such a habit of rambling….Hope you enjoy the explanations if you’re not asleep by the end lol
I’m liking the butterfly the best:)
Hi
Thanks for posting the close up of the butterfly it is a beautiful piece of art.
The lyrics also sound lovely. I will see about checking the band out as my eardrums are just numb from my usual head banging tunes. ๐
Take Care

Luckily for you, you won’t have to harm your ears listening to it. It’s a poem.
i carry your heart with me(i carry it in
my heart)i am never without it(anywhere
i go you go,my dear; and whatever is done
by only me is your doing,my darling)
i fear
no fate(for you are my fate,my sweet)i want
no world(for beautiful you are my world,my true)
and it’s you are whatever a moon has always meant
and whatever a sun will always sing is you
here is the deepest secret nobody knows
(here is the root of the root and the bud of the bud
and the sky of the sky of a tree called life;which grows
higher than the soul can hope or mind can hide)
and this is the wonder that’s keeping the stars apart
i carry your heart(i carry it in my heart)
ee cummings
So….you two know each other then??? ๐
It’s safe to say we’ve met. ๐ Unfortunately, geopgraphical differences make spending time impossible, so mutual online hobbies come in handy.
Donna–You could say that :). If you notice, we both have moon tattoos….
And Matthew, yes, it is a poem. Though I have no doubt someone out there has put it to music. If you find anything, let me know.
Animal….There are no words. I’m still searching for a good comeback for your fantasies comment. Revenge is a dish best served cold….just remember that ๐
