new tattoo in progress - butterfly mass :)

this is my new tattoo – my second and WAY larger than my first (which was a small script piece on my wrist). it is inspired by the work of the artist and illustrator james jean who i have always admired. placement is on my side/hip/butt and this is just the linework, which took about 4.5 hours. going back next month for the color!

i hate describing this tattoo to people who havent seen it because i dislike the majority of butterfly tattoos! i hope that most would consider this somewhat different. it is based on this painting: http://www.fecalface.com/openings/james_jean/jjimage5.jpg

That’s a very interesting piece.
I love the original artwork. The tattoo is stunning by itself, but once I saw the original picture I had a deeper appreciation for it. Lovely. I can’t wait to see some color.

okay i finally got this finished! last night in a 3 hour session! i’m very happy and can’t wait for it to completely heal 🙂
