Hello all. I new to this forum along with tattoo’s, and I wanted to share my tattoo. Long story short, we planned our honeymoon to Tahiti and thought while we were on Bora Bora, it’d be pretty awesome to get tattoo’s there. It was my first, her 2nd.
The guy’s name is Mata-tiki (I’m not sure on the spelling). He free handed the entire thing. Mine took 2 hours, hers took about 25 minutes. I absolutely love our tattoo’s, but I do see some mistakes on mine. I know it’s not going to be as perfect, being that it’s free handed, but I just want to know what you guys think. This is a cell phone picture I took a couple of days ago. It’s pealing now, so I’ll have to wait to get a better picture once it’s healed.
Again, I know you can’t even see the entire tattoo, but I’d like some opinions from people who really know what they are looking at. From what I’ve read on this forum, it seems many people don’t like tribal tattoo’s, but seeing as this was our honeymoon, and that Tahiti is more or less where the tattoo was invented, we thought it’d be pretty cool. I’m just asking about the quality of work.
Here they are:
Hello and welcome to the forums. Congrats on the new ink and your marriage. There aren’t a lot of tribal fans on here, but opinions are like assholes everyone has one. But there are tons of people here that can put there preferences aside and appreciate a well done tattoo though. Again congrats.

The line work looks good and it’s got decent form. For what it is it’s a good tat.
I dont see much wrong with it, few wobbly bits, be pleased you have something unique and original………..hopefully.
I dont like tribals, because doing them is like mowing fricken lawns
Thanks guys. Like I said, I just wanted to hear what everyone thought of the actual work. It is 100% original and we love it.
Thanks,
Steve
I’m not a fan of tribal in general but these are more original and nice designs… I like 🙂
i never was a tribal fan, but as these are more authentic and original then most, i wont bash on em, and i will tell you that they are well done. wear it proud
How much did the tat end up costing in tahiti? just curious. i have never been out of the states and am not really sure what they cost elsewhere.
on a related note i think they both look amazing. especially for freehand. was it handpoke or machine done?
OK, I’ll get slammed for this, but I really like those. I fuckin hate tribal, but if your going to do it, Polynesian is the only style that holds any meaning. I assume because it was spur of the moment that you probably didn’t do much research on the style. Most Poly designs tell, somewhat, of a life story and are added to throughout life.
Well done and they do look professional.
Your wifes looks like a vagina in the center, just sayin.
The quality of the work is good, and everyone is entitled to his or her opinions regarding tribals…
Unfortunately i was thinking the same thing…no offence
