WOW! Awesome work!
I remember when I first saw this one I was kocked out, still am
there are some great artists coming out of aussie land lately. nieves, fabian de galliande, graham moore.
There is no other word to put it other than amazing. Real talent!
thanks, hadn’t heard if the other two. amazing work from both of them.
fabian has been getting some recognition, but im surprised that moore hasnt blown up yet. i love his work.
so true, he doesn’t even seem to have a website, just his personal facebook page. hopefully he’ll not have a long waiting list then, I might hit him up for my next work.
edit: found his shops facebook page, holy crap there’s some nice tattoos on there!
Well fuck. Now I also want an old guy inked on my arm.
Question for you experts: How well does a hyper-realistic color portrait like that, with tons of fine detail, fare over time? I looks ridiculous now, but how does it age over 5 years, 10 years, 20 years? Some of these realistic works blow my mind, but does the fine detailing last?
I am also wondering about this as I am about to have a full colour sleeve done by Dmitriy Samohen. Maybe I should just get a B/G?
It doesnt matter if its b/g or color. Any fine detail tattoo will lose its detail over time. The only tattoos that stand the test of time is usually the ones with bold lines (ie. Traditional americana, traditional japanese, new school american, etc). But for me, i am more a fan of the fine detail tattoos and i really dont care how it will look when i am 70 or even 60.just try to take care of your tattoo as much as u can now, so it will still look decent later.
Some other great Aussie artists to peek at:
Fergus Simms – very bold traditional work much like Smith St., his lines are unbelievably clean. Fegus is young and is going to be famous!
Stevie Edge – Australia’s premier traditional tattoo artist. Stays true to the old school red, green, yellow and black the old sailors used to use. Kills anything panther/lion/tiger related.
Heath Nock – amazing allround traditional and realism tattoo artist. He can mix both styles into the one tattoo without it looking out of place.
Alvaro Flores – Australia’s Thomas Hooper (sort of). Specialises in Japanese and geometric/stippling work.
Adam Kitamoto – pure traditional oriental tattoos. Adam has years of expertise and follows the laws/guidelines/ideals of oriental tattooing to a tee.
Come get tattooed in Australia!
So then you should stick with a tribal armband
