Color makes all the difference.
Finished the top half off yesterday. Coloured in the moon, put a bit of pink shading in the flowers, finished the swords and horns, touched up a fair bit and bolded a lot of the lines again to make it pop. Looks a bit choppy atm because some of the lines have been touched up but once the ink settles in and heals properly, it will blend and look a lot better. Start on the bottom half next weekend.
I’ve now done 9 sessions on my sleeve:
My next session is tomorrow where he’ll probably start shading and putting the washes in the cloud work. Including tomorrow, I’ve got 3 more sessions booked but I’ll probably need 4 I reckon.
Edit: Sam-I-Am, I swear your sig said 74 hours of ink and counting like 2 weeks ago! That’s insane.
Pics from yesterday’s session:
Wrist was a killer, definitely isn’t a pleasant spot. He said we’ll do the flames and probably shade the dragon next week. He’s thinking blue/green or blue/white for the flames.

I had a quickie one hour session with Lindsay Wilson on 8-6-13. She put the hippy dude on the VW’s running board. That was the 74th hour.
I took in smoked beef sticks. That session brought my ink investment up to $3,955.00. (I’m a train dispatcher. We’re anal about details)
I am enjoying watching the progress of your sleeve. It just keeps getting better.
Looking great!
And this is really weird, and might be the strangest compliment you’re ever gonna get, but you have awesome arms.
Skinny but strong, long arm with wains… I don’t know why, but I love arms like that. Hahaha, I hate bulky arms and weak arms. It’s just something right in between that looks fucking amazing. yes, I’m strange.
/freaky shit over.

Damn, I can’t believe how many hours you’ve built up so fast!

Thanks, I keep thinking that myself because I always think I can expect what’s coming but he surprises me every session with what he comes out with.

Hahah, cheers. I guess being 6’2 will do that, sometimes I wish I had more canvas space but it still seems to be working out well. When I first started reading your post I had to re-read it to make sure the second part wasn’t just your signature, lol.
Also had a 4 hour session today:
All up for this sleeve so far I’ve sat around 36 hours and about 43 hours if you include drawing, stenciling, etc. Probably another 12-14 hours to go until it’s finished I’d say.
2 more sessions since my last post guys and I’ve got about 3 hours left until it’s finished! Hopefully he can get me in just after new years.
Sorry the pictures are on the small side and crappy quality; they don’t do it justice at all. Just have to finish off the dragon with some bold lines and some colour on the outer scales, possibly retouch the flames from this session if the ink doesn’t hold well and it’s all done. It’s been an insane journey.
It’s an unusual style of Japanese, the background is kind of odd, not in bad way but kinda unique. It’s really well done and I like the use of subtle colour against the background, this is the way Japanese should look IMO. Who is the artist, wouldn’t mind checking out his other work. Cheers.
You have a gorgeous body.
And a lovely sleeve. But more importantly a nice body.
