hey everyone ive been looking at alot of tattoo machines recently and these forums seem like a really good resource i could use, thing is my older brother is 24 and imo is a very good artist, and i starting talking to him about getting a tattoo gun and the whole setup once i saw them on ebay now thats all he wants to talk about, thing is we really cant afford it, but Im thinking about using some of the finanical aid money i get for college to buy him a setup around 150$ i havent looked through the site yet so if some of what im asking is inappropriate for this section i apologize, i am convinced this is his passion but he dosent have any contacts or knows of many people to tallk with the stuff about so im really interested in finding tips, tricks, things a tattoo artist should know, that i can relay to him and suggestions on what and where i should get the items he needs cause i told him if he really puts his heart into this ill be the first person he can tattoo on, so anything would help this is genuine, thanks and i hope to hear from you all

i am afraid we do not provide details on how to tattoo in this forum. you can visit the outlawtattoo forum and ask for information there.

    Hi

Because this involves your future I am going towade in with a piece of advice that I really hope you take.

Spend that money on your education!

I cannot stress that enough – this is your future and that $150 can mean a much needed set of text books that can mean the difference between a good grade and a future and sitting on your arse brown bagging it.

If your brother is so keen he can get a job hell even 2-3 jobs or wash cars, mow lawns whatever he needs to get a decent kit.

I spent 5 years working 2 jobs and 50-60 hrs a week so I can make sure my daughter has some money for her education – many times ppl wanted me to dip in and bail them out – it was hell no.

As for the stuff on ebay a lot of it is of poor quality so better off saving your cash anyway.

I respect the love for your bro but you have to do what is right for you longterm.

    Take Care
    Matthew

I agree, don’t mess around with your financial aid. Your brother is old enough that he should be able to scrape up the money himself. If you start dipping into your $ it will all be spent and you will have no education. Not a wise thing. Good luck.

thanks for all the feedback i read through them all and i hear what your saying the thing is my brother stays inside all day everyday watching tv or playing video games, his confidence is not that high, he’s bipolar and has been in and out of mental hospitals…too keep it short, he’s not a people person and has alot of mental problems but i still see potential in this, ive tried to get him to go to college i basically held his hand and signed him up for classes until he bailed out, i really wish i could put your ideas to use with him but he’s really hard to deal with, one question for everyone, is anyone here in the sacramento area in california? maybe he can talk to someone friendly about it again thanks for the feedback it means alot to me
