Hey guys
New guy looking for my first ink. 40 yr old male with diabetes which is under control. I’m having trouble finding an artist that is not a ego maniac that is still willing to tattoo a diabetic.
I have high standards as far as my artists go but the ones I like either wont tattoo a person with diabetes or won’t do a tattoo anything short of a full sleeve or bigger.
My Dr recommends a smaller one at first to see how I heal. Maybe 3-4in or so. I am running out of options in Charlotte, NC and not sure what to do.
I don’t want a huge piece, I know a good artist when I see one, and I don’t want to book and wait 6 months. Any ideas?
Thank you!
Mike

Try this map I made you might find some more artists that are willing to do it. (in my signature below)
I cant really comment on the diabetes with tattoos? Why is it difficult?

When you have diabetes wounds take longer to heal. When I had sever swelling problems with my leg tattoo several weeks ago the first thing my doctor tested was my blood sugar.
Welcome to the forum.
I know that you want it now now now, but 6 months wait for a really good artist might be worth it. I booked an appt 9 months out once. The tattoo I got was definitely worth the wait. And the added bonus was how long I had to refine my original idea. I have since gotten 3 more pieces from the same artist – however I never had to wait that long to see her again. I would, though.
And try to have some patience when they don’t want to tattoo a diabetic, it is definitely a bigger risk and they surely don’t want to injure you.
