    Hi

    To be honest not sure what a dixie cup is but a high salt concentrate won’t harmfully affect anything unless you are drinking it.

    I am going to check about silver lined band aids (silver is a natural bacteria cleanser) with a chemist and see if that might help – can always wear one overnight whilst sleeping if it does help.

    Ok so I finally got some pics of it. Its a little less swollen now as it was here but both sides are kinda red and just generally icky. It doesnt like me lol…Ive heard stuff about crushed aspirins do you think that might help? Its not hard really, and it doesnt hurt unless I poke it with something. So I assume its not a keloid..hopefully not, I cant really afford to go to a dermatologist. This is the same type of thing that happened to me just before I took the original piercing out, I just got fed up with it. It had given me no issues for a whole year though.

    Hi

    The swelling is caused by the torn tissue forming a cushion around the bar which it is treating as a foreign body.

    Do not be using crushed aspirin – it is easy to overdose as you can do serious damage to your kidneys by too much intake.

    I actually asked a friend who is a medical student and he suggested it maybe hypertrophic scarring as opposed to a keloid – he was saying it can take upto 2 years to reduce but normally do within 12 mths.

    To be honest my advice is either;

    1. Take it out

    2. See a specialist and see if you can have anything done to treat it.

    Hi

    Well in UK we would see a general practioner who wuld look it over and refer to a specialist if necessary.

    If you are in the states I would suggest maybe a dermatologist – it seems that this is a really common problem with these types of piercings.

    There was a suggestion that tea tree oil helps but also read that it can cause severe reactions in some ppl.

    Sorry cannot help you out further.

    Ok so havent been here in a while…I used the tea tree oil diluted and it made it go away pretty quickly. But, now its back. And the tea tree oil isnt really helping much now. I REALLY dont want to lose this piercing. It isnt sore, it just looks like crap lol

    Its not migrating or infected or anything. I am going to try some sea salt/chamomile mix to see if that helps. I’ll do an update soon. I know that in order to see a dermatologist Id have to make an initial appointment and all that junk, and it would be really expensive..then I’d have to get what is it, cortizone shots or something like that? If I dont have any luck with the chamomile and whatnot I might consider saving some money for it. I’m stubborn! I want this piercing to stay, because if I can do home treatment and make it go away, that means I can get my nipples redone. This is the same thing that happened to my nipples so if I can get this to go away, I would consider getting those redone too.
