starting to come off with the scab? what do you think could have caused this, everything else is fine the tattoo is really good (apart from the fact the colour is coming out), does it mean i am gonna have to have it touched up? could it be anything that the tattoist has done???
it is not seeping ink it is very dry i think maybe it is because i haven’t keept it moisterised
Stacy, this happened to me as well, and I’m a vet ink-ee!
If the area your art covers is large, the healing process is more delicate and lengthy, as has been my experience. I’ve also found that artists vary in their advice, as to how to care for tatoos.
I’m afraid I can’t advise on how to care for it, it sounds like you’ll have to get it touched up in a month or so when it heals completely. The good news is, any reputable shop will do this for free.
In my case, I believe the artist had a bit of a ‘heavy hand’. He switched to a smaller needle when completing the inner portion of the art work on my arm; this was the only area which scabbed and took the ink with it.
The only thing I can say with certainty is: BUY BAG BALM. It speeds up the healing process. IN MY EXPERIENCE, Bag Balm successfully keeps the area moist without introducing excess water. It also encourages flakage.
Good luck, and make sure to post a picture for us to see. I’m always interested in seeing others’ artwork!

God Bless
u should contact the person who did ur tatoo.
no thats actually semi normal.. maybe you havent been keeping it moist enough with lotion… you might need a touch up wait til it heals and then you can decide..
It’s totally normal for the scab to be colored. It’s NOT normal, however, for it to seep ink. There’s nothing you can do about it right now, besides take care of it by keeping it clean (gently washing with lukewarm water and unscented Dial soap – the yellow kind- a few times a day), and keeping it moisturized (I use Aveeno unscented moisturizing cream – with the green cap).
In a couple of weeks, when it’s totally healed, if it looks faded to you, go back to your tattoo artist. If you took care of your tattoo, but it heals faded, then yes, the artist could possibly be to blame. Even if it was your doing, by not taking care of it well enough, any decent shop will touch it up for you for free if you go back and express your concern to your artist.
If you are not happy with your work, GO BACK and nicely let the artist know. He or she should be willing to make it right so you are happy with your piece.
