My girlfriend and I just got our first tattoos and her tattoo is cracking very badly and peeling skin and when the peeled skin is gone the tattoo is still cracked. Also we have been using Eucerin lotion on the tattoo it was one of the recommended lotions by our tattoo artist and it burns her incredibly when she puts it on and only on the tattoo nowhere else even on cuts she has on her body they don’t hurt at all just the tattoo.

get some non perfumed lotion from your pharmacy. see if that has the same effect.

it may be that she is having a reaction to the ink or possibly the cream.

go back to the tattoo artist and ask for advice also.

I can say with almost certainty she is having an alergic reaction to the lotion. STOP USING IT RIGHT AWAY. the pink splotches are a dead giveaway, likely there is either purfume or another substance in the lotion (even unscented lotions can have purfume in them to make them smell like lotion). You need to switch to an antibacterial now, to clean out the tattoo from the lotion. Also, anti-bacterial ointments (like A&E or A&D) will actually pull the lotion out of the tattoo. She may be very sensitive to lotions (only when they reach broken skin) so she can be tested for allergies, but I recomend finding a tattoo place around you that sells some form of tattoo ointment, usually they all will. Find one that is made with natural ingrediants to be safe, unless you know what the ingrediants are.

Another great way, is to buy Vitamin E gellcaps, and you can pierce the gellcap with a needle. Squeeze it directly onto any break in the skin, and the Vit. E will accelerate healing.
