    hello all

well its nearly 1 week since i began shading on my tattoo. i have noticed that on parts of the tattoo its peeling/cracking. it does this in parts and the stuff that falls off leaves a noticeably different shade to whats left behind. the cracking looks like dry skin when that cracks however the tattoo is well moisturied (using bepanthen 3-4 times a day).

    is this normal?

    thanks for the reply whoji.

when i had the outline done i used bepanthen for 7 days before switching to a moisturiser. do you think it best i do the same or continue using the bepanthen till all the peeling/cracking/flaking has gone and then begin with the moisturiser?

While you have scabs/ flaking the tattoo is healing. Bepanthen is designed to heal and protect damaged skin.

I use Bepanthen until ALL the flakes and scabs have gone, whickh normally doesnt take more than 10 days. then move to a moisturiser, fragrance free of course.

To give you an idea I had the majority of a forearm sleeve done in one sitting on the 8th, Used bepanthen all the way through. it had healed by the 18th.

Just to clarify a tattoo never truly heals until months after it was done so aftercare should last the life of he tattoo.

    cheers mate for the reply.

i’ll continue with the bepanthen then. got some fragrance free moisturiser at the ready for afterwards.

many thanks for clearing this up.
