hey guys,
i’m getting my elbow done soon, and i’m worried about the actuall ”point” in the elbow.
how is that going to affect the healing?i mean when your skin is dry that is the first to scab so i dunno what it will be like to be inked and starting to heal?
and after a year will i notice discolouration in the dead center of the elbow?
as for standard looking after i’m fine, just not sure about the 1 small area, if there is anything different i need to do
x
Hi Craig
The elbow point is similar to most other areas with a couple of exceptions.
The elbow can actually shed skin at a faster rate as it is a ‘contact point’ that is likely to be rubbed more than other points n the body.
Clothes, resting arms etc all contribute to the elbow callousing slightly more than say a forearm.
The main thing to do is make sure that the area is not rubbing against anything such as sleeves or scraping against rough surfaces and you should be fine.
Also might want to moisturise slightly more if it is getting dry quicker.
Interestingly the elbow is one of the hardest points in the body (something to bear in mind if you ever get into an ugly fight one of these in the face usually ends most problems 😉 ) so you may feel it more pain wise as the needle will be close to the bone.
Take Care

i’ve started using some mousturiser before the tattoo aswell. i think it is, smells like savlon ha.
and throughout the healing i pretty much will wear a T-shirt as much as i can.
the design is fairly simple so a touch up would be all but easy.
and the pain…i cant wait! 😀
should i just make it a habit of keeping the elbow mousturised even months after it has healed?
Point of the elbow–for me, that was the second highest rater on the Tattoo Ouchie scale I’ve ever gotten, and it made life damn inconvient for a few weeks. Typically my tattoos stop hurting after a week, but my elbow took far, far longer. It makes it so you can’t lean on things.
Matthew said most of what’s to be said, but to answer your new question, yes, you should moisturize the hell out of your tattooed elbow pretty much once at day. But then again, that applies to all tattoos. You should lotion them once a day, every day, preferably after your shower. It moisturizes the skin, making it look more heathy, which brings the color of your tattoos out. When your skin gets too dry, your tattoos can look a bit faded, even when they ain’t. I’ve also been told that lotioning them often also helps to keep them from fading over the years.

Yep KH is right
Always worth moisturising your tattoos daily if you can get it into your routine.
Good luck withe the tattoo.

It’s like I keep telling people, if everyone just accepts that as a given, it’d save us all a lot of time and tears.
Now, I’m off to bring peace to the Middle East. Shouldn’t take more than a few hours to flatten that little roadbump.

What’s number one on the ouchie meter?
That rounded bone that juts out of your wrist. As I’m found of pointing out, the only thing that kept me from bawling my eyes out over that one was my wife sitting across from me saying “You gonna cry? Little baby gonna cry? Someone check his diaper and get his ba-ba ‘cuz Mama’s baby girl is gonna cry!”.
-_-

Hahaha fuck, I hate getting tattoo over shallow bone, it fuckin hurts!
