i’ve never came accross this before (other than ink residue on sheets after sleeping)

but this morning after waking up, washed tattoo, put bepanthen on it (realised what seemed like water still on the tattoo after drying so pat dried again and reapplied some more bepanthen.. was sitting watching tv then my mum said my tattoo was running.. i looked down and there was a lot of orange ink oozing out of it and running down my leg and foot.

i washed it and put more cream on it and it was fine, theres definately still orange oozing out but not as much.

this is the second sitting of my 12th tattoo and never experienced this before – has anyone else had this? any tips?

i assume the best thing is to keep washing it and applying cream.

hi , i would have thought its plasma that was oozing out .
its very common after a long sitting e.g having a lot of colouring work done.
as for the orange it is similar in colour and it could have been some ink that was left on the surface .

I had to put an ice backed cloth on my tattoo to stop the plasma , matthew will be the best person to ask 😉

    Hi

From the description it sounds like you are having some major plasma leak which is forcing the excess pigment up from the lower dermis into the top part of the skin.

The other issue is that some orange tattoo inks are made from disazodiarylide, disazopyrazolone, or cadmium seleno-sulfide.

These are actually printing press ink ingredients and have a much more viscous quality in the carrier solution and can ‘ooze’ more than certain other types of pigments.

Really depends on what was used. Although not massively harmful it is not uncommon to get leakage.

This can also happen if overworked on the area as the skin becomes torn and raw.

My advice is to wash the area clean and pat dry.

Grab some ice or bag of frozen peas and place across the affected area for at least 15 mins or as long as you can stand.

Do not exceed 20 mins in anyone sitting.

This will cause the blood vessels to contract slowing the amount of plasma that is being produced.

If you are still leaking heavily after 48 hrs you need to check for signs of infection.

problem solved – tattoo is healing like all my others now.

still red around the tattoo (which for me is normal – every tattoo i’ve had the skin around the tattoo has gone red and everyone goes “ohhh get it check thats infected” lol)

i always keep a close eye on the tattoo healing and one before did go to docs because i thought may have infection (it wasnt)

    thanks for your help 🙂

what i did tho.. because it was oozing quite a bit – bepanthen wasnt going onto my skin properly, so i washed and used savlon yesterday – woke up this morning and tattoo’s not oozing anymore so went back to bepanthen
