I know I’m not supposed to scratch it or pick at my skin, and I’m still supposed to apply the ointment, which I’m using Aquaphor. Three times a day, for a week. My question is, while I’m rubbing the Aquaphor on, I’m supposed to be rubbing my dead skin off, right? Because there’s a lot of it coming off now, and it’s getting all over my arm and it’s kinda hard to clean now…

dont rub to hard and you will be alright , at this state i clean it in the morning and put cream on and then leave it well alone until its feeling dry and ready for some more cream .
i wash it a little again if still feeling greasy !

So is it bad if I’m rubbing some of my dead skin off, or is there no way to avoid that?

    Hi

You will have some dead skin come away when moisturising this is normal just don’t force the skin off by rubbing too hard as it will lift the ink.

Just rub gently with cream and pat dry when cleaned – the skin will come away of it’s own accord.

Alright, one more question. My artist said that I should wash my tattoo with soap and water, then pat it dry before applying the Aquaphor each time. Should I still be washing with soap and water, or can I just skip to using the Aquaphor now?

    Hi

Nope you use soap because dead skin cells get engrained into the top layer of the skin.

The soap helps flush that away.
