Hi,
I got my first tattoo two weeks ago and I’m panicking again! I’ve been taking really good care of it – used bepanthen for first ten days, since then just using unscented moisturiser. Trouble is that it’s still peeling slightly, and I can’t tell if the skin has grown back over it yet. Also, on some of the lines, the ink looks a bit like it’s sitting on top of the skin, if that makes sense, and I’m worried it’s coming out. I’ve started getting it wet – only in the shower – but is that a bad move? (I can’t go show my artist as she is in another city.) Any advice gratefully received.
Hi Frisby
First of all worry just gives you lines and does not solve any problems ๐
Tattoos can vary on healing time some take 1-2 weeks some take upto 3 weeks it depends on the individual as we all heal at different rates.
Peeling is normal and shows that the tattoo is still healing and shedding the excess pigment. During this process the lines may feel a little raised as the scar tissue beneath settles.
Also heat can cause the tattoo to rise up slightly – it happens on mine a in a hot shower and mine are over 5 years old.
It is nothing to worry about.
Just keep moisturising and keep it clean and all will be well.
Take Care
Matthew
