I’d like to get a tattoo, something on my side, but I’m low on ideas. I have a few things in mind but I want to make sure whatever I pick really means something to me, and something that would mean something for a long time. Design itself I’m not worried about at this time, I just need an idea to work on. I’ve run through things (morals, symbols, and such) but I’m not sure what I’d want. I’m just wondering if there is any way someone could help me on how to come up with an idea.
Some things I’ve thought of: Taurus, Pursuit of happiness, Fear, Experiencing life, and memorial to a lost friend. In terms of morals, I mean there’s a lot, but the three in the middle pretty much sum up what I’m interested in.
Any help would be amazing. And I know it’s something I have to choose for myself, but due to the loss of a friend, I haven’t felt much of life in the past few years and I’m recently coming back. It’s just I don’t want to be doting on the past and putting a R.I.P. tattoo on me.
i don’t have any ideas, just wanted to throw in my 2 cents…i’m getting a memorial for a friend on my ribs on saturday, there is no rip, just his name and a few things he loved thrown in around it…i don’t think memorial tats are about living in the past, i see it as a way a lot of people can move on without feeling like they’ll forget, or like they are abandoning the memories, a way to honor the friendship and keep a piece of them with you forever…for me it is also a way to get the emotional pain channeled to physical pain as that is easier to endure. my tattoo is also filled with some of the things he wanted in his next tat, a full back piece, lady luck and the such but since i’m a girl i didn’t want to go that big so i chose the symbols he wanted worked into his tat. good luck with whatever you decide!

Well, to begin you don’t need to get a tattoo that has meaning.Personally sense you have gone through a tough time why don’t you try looking at some designs that will make you smile everytime you look at it. i find getting anything that says RIP is a little depressing it tends to bring you back to that painful moment. As for your options pursuit of hapyness sounds like a good one, if i come up with anything i will post.

As for pursuit of happiness, I really can’t think of anything to symbolize that. I like this story involving it: “My mom always told me to be happy in life, no matter what I choose to do. In school, the teachers asked what I wanted to be when I grew up. I said happy. They said I didn’t understand the question, I said they didn’t understand life.”
Besides that, since I can’t think of anything for it, I’m thinking of something along the lines of the Taurus sign. Maybe a tribal tattoo with the sign in it.
