Hi everyone,
A few years ago I got a simple phoenix on the left side of my lower back. After that, I added a dragon on the right side of my lower back. Then about a year ago I added some clouds and a sun to make the two pieces come together.
Overall I’m pretty happy with it, but the clouds didn’t heal as light as I thought that they would. When the artist did it, he said that the clouds would heal lighter…. they did heal lighter, but not as light as I had hoped.
I got this one done out of state so it’s not convenient for me to go back to the artist and ask if there’s anything he can do to brighten the clouds up. I was wondering if anyone here thinks there’s a way to do it. I had hoped the clouds would turn out a bit more “fluffy” looking… and I think that the dragon gets a little lost as well. Any ideas? If people think it can be done, I’m going to go to a shop and ask about it too.
Thanks
Cathy
Hi Cathy
It is a reasonably simply job – you need an artist to add some well placed white highlights along the edges and through the clouds to give them a bit more a ‘fluffy’ look.
I would also possibly reline the dragon in black so it looks bolder and have a trail of white leading off it like rising mist.
It is a very nice piece.

Thanks for such a quick reply Matthew ๐ I was thinking of asking about using white highlights, but I wasn’t sure that it would show through the black ink. Hopefully I can get myself to a tattoo shop soon and ask about them. Thanks for your advice… really appreciate it.

looks a nice tattoo , i agree all it needs is some highlights ๐
Would it be in bad taste to go to another artist to get the highlights done? Like I said in my original post, I got this one done out of state and it’s not really convenient for me to just drive over there one day.
