Hi there. So, Friday is my thirtieth birthday and I’ve been wanting to get a new tattoo for awhile. I’d like a line from a poem, ten words long, on my wrist/forearm. However, every person I’ve shared the idea with thinks it is stupid or unfeminine and I’ll regret it. Some suggested inking it somewhere else, but the poem has the word “veins” in it and I can’t picture it anywhere else. I wrote it on my arm in pen (ha) for the last two months and I still like it…but nobody else does…which makes me want to do it more!
Any advice? I considered doing it in white but I am pale and I think it will end up either unreadable or looking like scars.
As a follow-up, if I were to tattoo the words on my inner wrist/forearm, I’d want them facing me so I can read them, but I’m told this is incorrect and that they should read clearly to others when my arm is at my side (with the first word closest to my elbow and the last closest to my wrist).

white ink is normally only used as an highlight or to create shades when mixed with other colours, white in a tattoo normally changes colour and becomes a pale yellow colour, so its not recommended at all as the primary colour in the tattoo. i refuse to use white in a tattoo unless its highlighting only.
as for the placement, i have done lots of work with the tattoo on wrists and facing the client, ie.. the way you want it doing, this piece is something for you and sod what others think, get it how you want it 😉
