The basic rule of thumb is:

Freckles are usually fine to tattoo over unless they are raised/lumpy. If they are either of these they should be avoided being tattooed.

Moles – whilst it is possible to tattoo over them you should avoid tattooing them at all costs. Most moles are usually benign skin imperfections but if picked or damaged they can cause issues.

It is also harder to monitor any issues or changes if they are tattooed. If you really must have a tattoo mole removal is usually the best option and is barely a scratch.

Skin imperfections – Always best to get a consultant to check the root cause many can be covered without issue but need to make sure its nothing serious.

Also most surface scars can be tattooed over as long as not skin graphs.
