So I got this tattoo on my wrist last week. It’s supposed to say 5.5L in red ink. This is my third tattoo so I am not new to aftercare, I have done all the proper cleaning and maintenance of this tattoo but it still came out crappy. None of my other tattoos reacted badly and actually healed rather quickly and pain-free. The artist was a bit of an ass and didn’t wash off enough of the outline before he started so my first 5 was really dark (not sure if it impacted why it’s not healing).

It’s been slightly swollen for awhile now and I doubt the ink is going to stay in.

I went back to the shop and the artist said that my skin’s just not taking the red ink well. He said it won’t scar and for me to come back in a week or so and he’ll go over it again.

I’d love some more feedback on this. Has this happened to anyone else / do you guys know if it’s going to scar / what should I do to help it heal? At this point I’m less concerned about the ink and more concerned about the scarring.

is this your first tattoo with red ink? some people do not take red ink well. but other than that it looks infected. you need to go see a doctor and get some antibiotics.

Ya, this is my first with red ink. I know it looks gross but I’m not sure if it’s infected. There’s been no pus and it doesn’t hurt. It only slightly itches, as much as any tattoo that’s healing.

It looks either scared or infected. I would say you had a reaction to the red ink. But it looks like it will be months before you get a touch up on that.
