I had my tattoo planned out for a while before I actually got it. I went to a friend to get it done. I paid full price for it, I was kind of mad that he did not give me a deal on it. I knew he was a pretty good artist because I’ve seen his work and his work has been in magazines before. I just wanted 2 stars on my back. One for each of my kids. Stars should be simple enough. Well when I got home after getting my tattoo, I was really looking at it and noticed that my tattoo was pretty crappy looking. He did a pretty crappy on it. A couple of lines of the stars are wiggly when they are suppose to be straight. The colour was not good either. It looked like I had had my tat for like 10 years and it look like the colours were faded. So I really was not happy with my tattoo at all. That was about a year ago.
I went in November to see another friend, who I know is an awesome artist and who I could trust. I just wish I was in contact with him when I first decided to get the tattoo. He redid the colouring and went over the outline with a thicker line. It looks better then it did, but you can still see the wiggly lines.
But my question is how long should you wait until you can cover up a tattoo? I want to get this tattoo covered because it still looks like crap to me and it’s suppose to be for my kids. I do not want a crappy tattoo for my kids. I do have plans for my back already so I’m sure I can come up with something to cover it up. Or f you have any ideas that would be great to. The theme for my other tattoo on my back is garden/nature. I’m going to have a fairy sitting on a flower.
Here’s a pic of my tat.
If you could help me out that would be great!!
Hi
To be honest we would need a closer pic to see the fine detail work – from that distance it does not look so bad so hard to say.
You really should wait a min of 6-8 weeks before going for a cover up to make sure that the skin beneath has healed properly.
Take Care
Matthew
Hey Katydid00, I dont quite agree with Mathew, The mistake is very clear and very thick and heavy, women are fluid and subtle beings its about femininity and there is nothing here that resembles any of that.
We are all experts after the fact but you mentioned a garden with a fairy on a flower sometimes what seems o.k. doesn’t always suit and because of its position and the area that needs correcting I would create a nightsky with a swirling milky whey effect that angles down to the small of your back. select the darker shade of your current tat2 and utilise that, with a sprinkling of stars along its centre it will be a little larger but sometimes its a case of accommodating whats there, you will retain the original meaning of your imagery.
good luck Hoani
Thanks for the idea Hoani!! I actually really like that idea, but I was getting my fairy on the other side of the back, so I was thinking of something gardenie/flowery to cover up my stars with.
Also do you think it would be hard to cover up because the colours are so bright still? I guess I would just have to go with darker colours right? I’m hopefully going this weeekend to see my friend who is doing my fairy tattoo. I’ll ask him about covering it up then. He’s the one who redid the colours and outlined it again, so I’m afraid he’s going to be mad at me, for getting it covered.
Maybe he was not chuffed with you wanting it done at a deal price !!
That shouldn’t be an excuse for a crappy tattoo.
Hey Katy, you are the customer whatever the tattooist thinks or feels about what you want is immaterial, be absolutely satisfied with the image its your body, what he did is rubbish !. check out other wearers ask around be sure and good luck, Hoani
oh almost forgot, a specialist in the business would help you a lot but yeah, the colors will make a difference, you are quite fair skinned and that will probably determine the color base k ?, good luck, Hoani
Well thats true, but its not always the artists fault .
maybe she moved ..
but it certainly does not look like a piece done by an artist that would get in magazines ..
Thanks forveryone’s help. i taked to my tattois and said i have to wait at least 3-4 years to get it coved. There’s too much scar tissue right now. That sucks, but oh well. The way he is going it’s going to take 3 years to finish my back anyways. He books 3 months in advance.
