it’s not the tattoo idea im not happy with, i know what people say about getting your girlfriends name tattooed on you but ive been with her for years and as far as im concerned i always will be. I don’t like the font and i just dont think it looks good. I know i agreed to it but when i saw the stencil it looked thinner, lighter and better. I don’t really like anything about it apart from what it says. Does anyone have any ideas how I can change it into something else? Or if there are any creative people out there who could photoshop it into a new idea possibly. Any help appreciated, weather it’s an idea to cover it up completely with a whole new concept, or any touches that can be done to make it look a bit better.

    Thanks

thanks for the reply. I wanted more of a Script font though, and I told him I wanted it shaded so it wasn’t darker. from a distance it looks like its been drawn on with felt tip, is there any design or things i can add to it or around it to make it look more in place? anyone got anything? Or even anything I could totally cover it with, like a new tattoo. with say my initials ( CS ). in a olde english font or a crown or a new tattoo that could cover it properly.

I’m pretty good at cover-ups but I’ll tell you honestly, unless your looking for a LOT of work and you’re willing to pay a lot for it, you can forget it. What you have is too big, too bold, and too dark. Covering it would be a monumental job.

Also, if i was to get this excised what am i looking at? Is it a single scar like a slash.

There’s no cutting involved in removing a tattoo, it’s a laser, which can leave a scar, is expensive and apparently hurts.

im talking about an excision, getting it cut off then sewn. i wouldnt mind having a scar. Is my tattoo to big for that method?

also Im looking for peoples craetive ideas what i could have tatted over it with.

You mean people actually *DO* cut tattoos off? I shouldn’t be surprised. Not so long ago we had someone ask if they could remove their son’s tattoo with paint thinner, thus giving birth to the Sherav Step by Step Method of Tattoo Removal. Personally, I think a powersander woulda been easier, but to each their own.

Seriously though, look at the size of that damn thing. Do you have any idea how much skin you’d have to cut off? And how deep? Scarring will be the least of your problems when you’re trying not to die of blood loss and infection, not to mention you may paralyze your freaking arm.

Okay, so your tattoo ain’t so great and it’s in a shitty place for such a simple piece. So what? I’ve seen far worse, and while you definitely shouldn’t be proud of it, it ain’t nothing to be ashamed of either.

As for the subject of getting your girl’s name on you…

I got married to the woman I spent most of my adult life with. I was stupidly, obsessively in love with her, and I got a tattoo for her. Now we’re quits, and I have this massive, pretty much uncoverable piece on my arm. The only consolation I have is that I refused to get her name tattooed on me and instead went with two zombies kissing with lyrics from our song under it.

It’s not an unusual story. The only exception I’ve ever seen to the “Don’t get your girl’s name tattooed on you cuz you’ll break up” rule is my tattoo artist, and he’s in his late forties, has kids with her, and has been married to her almost as long as I’ve been alive, and everyone’s still waiting for them to break up now that he’s got her name tattooed on him.

Frankly, even though that ain’t a terrible piece, I’d totally get it covered on general principle.

    Love. Peace. Metallica.

I CAN cover it. Your looking at a piece that would cover your shoulder and run onto your back and/or chest, as well as a good part of your arm. My personal suggestion would to be to use a dragon with a lot of shade and color, perhaps in the Asian style, with background and color. If I were to design it and do it, you would be looking at about a thousand dollars, but I can guarantee it’ll do the job, and you would leave with an awesome piece. If you can handle a little pain and a lot of discomfort, I can do it in one day. If you can’t hang any more than four hours at a time then your looking at a minimum of two 4 hour sittings.

I don’t know where you are, so coming to me may not be an option for you. If it is, go to my website at http://www.newcovenantinktattoo.net and give me a call.

That sounds rather macabre 😮 the tattoo’s not that bad to look at, and a scar (If that could even be done) would be a whole lot worse!

Can’t you add something to it?

    Hi

First of all getting that cut off would require a skin graph and they hurt I don’t just mean a bit I mean teeth wrenching pain and you have to walk around with a section of skin that is usually taken from your arse cheek.

I had some skin graphs done on some scars and still ended up lasering over the area because it looked a dogs dinner.

After 15 years it has only now started to smooth down and not blow up red everytime it touches warm water.

You want my advice on that tattoo –

First of all it is not that bad! I have seen way worse and actually I think it is quite a nice piece just needs a little more attention.

To lighten it you can go for some white highlights on the edges of the letters or consider having some light blue shading in the background.

You can add more swirls or knotwork as a back drop if you wanted to jazz it up.

You could also have it floating in clouds or have a water or floral piece wrapping around it.

Or you could have it lasered off at great expense – which i don’t think is necessary.

Your ink is a mindset – if you feel good about you – you will feel good about your ink.

Part of the issue is no matter how much we say it out loud or to ourselves deep down everybody worries ‘whoa I have their name is this putting the kiss of death on our relationship?’

It is irrational relationships either endure or break up ink has no bearing on it.

I have a portrait of my wife that covers much of my upper right tricep – if we break up I would just live with it as I still love my ink.

    Take Care

thanks mate thats the best reply yet. So you think i could have it lightened by some highlights round the letters? is that possible? Also about the squiggles to make it look more in place and give it more detail.

Thats exactly what i had in mind thanks for your reply.

Also to the tattoo artist who posted earlier offering to correct it thanks it sounds good and i believe you could, but i live in Scotland, UK.
