In the next 6 months or so I would like to make a trip out to LA to visit my brother. In this time I would like to find a rockin artist to do a possible half sleeve, or a chest piece.
Its going to be pretty new school and colorful.
Im prepared to spend the money so thats not really an issue. I’ve spent the time and google searched shops and looked through portfolio after portfolio. I would really love to get some opinions from people who have been to these places and have great things to say about them. I want a reputable, clean, professional shop with friendly and talented artists. If anyone has someone in mind for me to check out I would greatly appreciate it!
LA is loaded with top artists. You should start talking to them now to get locked in for a tattoo in 6 months.

Im diggin his portfolio!
Now I just figured out that my mother is going to make a trip out there in May and wants me to come and I dont know if thats enough time to get in with an artist…ugg.
If anything I can just get something on a smaller scale. A few random pieces maybe.
I appreciate the links guys. If anyone else knows of more shops they love let me know.
6 months out should be plenty of time to book an appointment with one of the better shops. You can email these artists directly, see if they have any availability, and even go over your concept and ideas to have a concept dine before you get there. Even May might be enough time. I mean, some of the worlds best can be a year or more out, but most good shops will have appointments during the weekdays.
Make some calls, send some emails, and get booked! Its going to be on you forever! Get what you want by who you want and enjoy!
By the way, thank God no one has said High Voltage yet…

Ok were back to the 6 month plan and finding a great artist.
Yes all of these points are on my “to-do” list…just gotta pick who I want. 🙂
BTW I went to high voltage on my first trip to LA thinking it might be cool and it took me like 45 mins just to talk to the receptionist and then only to have him not give me any info and basically told me to ___off….not impressed and I didnt even see any portfolios…not for me
Screw high voltage. So many good shops in la to choose from.
lol thats the hard part!
I love love love Nathan’s in Canoga Park. Small shop but totally good vibes. Wonderful artists, clean professional and fairly priced. Just got my first tat from them last week and I am in love! I am just itching to get more work from them!
