Nice colour work. Really well executed. Does it wrap to the inside?
It goes to about the halfway point of both my tricep and bicep. There are a few other illustrative artists I want to collect a piece from, so I’ll probably have one of them fill that space with a single piece.

I am not a fan of the dog and boy I’m sure it has meaning to you. I do like the tattoo looks good
That’s ok. I’m not a fan of Cornelius, but it’s a good tattoo. 😉

The cap being low on the shoulder bugs me. But its really nice work! Congrats
Ideally, I would have liked it to flow a bit more organically up top, but I’m ok with it as it is. What really irks me are the sleeves that end in a straight line – the ones where you actually look like you’re wearing a tattoo shirt. 😡

Just read about the inks they use in UK as being carcinogenic. I’m kinda cuz my first tattoo was from Scotland.
Just wondering what you’re thoughts were. Should I be worried?
All inks used all over the world (in most, but not all colors) contain carcinogenic substances. Considering the ink is trapped in the dermis, it’s unlikely to be too much to worry about. I’m quite health conscious so I put some thought into this as well, but in the end I decided f**k it. I’ll probably die in a car wreck or a street fight long before I die of cancer anyway.
You’re definitely not going to grow much – and very likely not at all – so it will be fine.

Been a couple months. There it is healed. I actually liked it WAY more fresh with all the black as opposed to now with all the light grey. 🙁
What do you guys think?
I know what you mean as I have a portrait that healed up way lighter than expected, but I think it healed well and still looks good.
I’m with buttwheat; it looks ok, but a bit flat. Your parents did a stellar job though.
Most here are familiar with Dmitry Vision I would think, though I don’t know how experienced he really is with coverups. Even Pangburn would have a tough time with that Superman piece. Good luck though man.
No, a bump isn’t going to affect your tattoo.
Wow, you ramble a lot. Are you sure you’re not still on drugs? Anyway, please post a pic of the tattoo.

great thanks mate!
I have been reading up quite abit and getting mixed reviews on the new machine. They are saying typically it is slightly faster but is not worth the loads of extra cost, so I am still researching 🙂
Reviews are mixed on the effects of treatment between the two as well. Some are reporting more instances of skin pigmentation issues with the pico, though I suppose that matters little when you’re getting it re-inked.

I should have worded the top “5” more differently. What I meant to say was that you don’t need famous people to do your work, but if in general most of the people you encounter love the work it is considered top notch. I bet your top artists will be different from other people’s top artists. So the way I see it is if most of the general public like the work it is considered great work. Not everybody will love the same work and not everyone will hate the same work. It all depends on the general consensus and how many years that they last in the business.
Obviously, opinions will differ on who the best artists are, favorites styles, and so forth, but none of that is relevant to the actual quality of the work. For example, Russ Abbot isn’t even in my top 50, but I can still recognize and acknowledge that he is a phenomenal artist. If my 2000 Mountaineer is the least shitty vehicle in a lot with 100 cars, it still doesn’t make it a Porsche. Likewise, if your shitty tattoo is the best in a room full of even shittier tattoos, it doesn’t make it a good tattoo. I’m not telling you that your tattoo isn’t my style. I am telling you that it’s poorly executed.

The artist I used is still under a year of tattooing and a friend of mine. The artist you named above are probably excellent in there craft, but how long did it take them to get to that excellent status? I highly doubt they were considered excellent artist when they first started.
Most artists do suck when they start out, but what does that have to do with anything? If you want to help a friend out by giving her some practice that’s great and perhaps in 5 years she will be a great artist, but neither of those things change the fact that the work is poor right now. We’re not looking to come down on her or you; we’re just giving it to you straight.

Finally I don’t disagree with anything you said and I would love to see some of their work if you have some pictures or a website of the shop where they have samples of their work.
Google their name followed by the word tattoo. They all have online portfolios, Facebook pages, Instagram, etc.
Let her get what she wants, but do try to persuade her to choose a great artist for whatever she chooses to get. I have talked my wife out of a couple appointments in the last couple years, but only because I don’t want to see her settle for a so-so artist.
