As for apprenticeship you need to bulk up the portfolio to show you can handle a wide aspect of drawing.
I would recommend drawing from anatomy books especially hands (they are hard to master).

If you love the ink and intend to get more by the same artist build up a professional relationship repeat work will always pay much more than a one off piece.
Also it’s good practice for the artist to perfect their techniques.

Its also a bit of a learning process for the artist in question. They will likely now recognise the specific difficult bits that meant it took 6 hrs and not 2 and will quote more accurately for the same type of tattoo in the future.

As first attempts go it is a good effort but as said you need to practice on liner control (outline is a bit wobbly). Also always pre-sketch as the spacing is out which makes the tattoo look distorted.

Without a picture it could be a number of things. Bruising is common as the skin is taking a lot of damage by the needle so not uncommon. It could also be a small blow out where the ink has leaked into the further area of the skin.
This would have to be fixed by the artist once healed.

where are you based in the world? buttwheat is very good at finding the right artist for the job.

Laser Removal works well on black ink so you could quite possibly lighten it substantially and then have a coverup tattoo larger than the original scorpion. that way you dont have to integrate it at all into a design if it doesnt fit naturally.
Also if your not happy with it you may as well remove it if you can and have something you love instead

I dont think we have any posts specifically on white over black ink oin here. more specifically because we dont allow a lot of talk about application of tattoos from an artist point of view in the main forums.
But we have artists who may have done it in the past so was asking them.

I think the bottom one would probably be my favourite as i prefer black to colour, but they are all great. Black ink is supposed to be more resistant to fading especially if is in an area which is likely to get more exposure to UV.
