I think the problem is you are drawing with expectations in your head rather than drawing for fun, at least that’s my first impression after reading this.

Agreed, a design like that looks much better when it’s big, so my vote goes for back rather than rib

We are looking at the head in profile, the upper body slightly from the top in 3/4 profile and the tail slightly from the bottom, angled more towards us than the upper body. I’d be confused where to put the legs as well.
Agreed with those who say concentrating on adding to the design might be better than trying to fix it.

Looking at your arm makes me hungry. Not sure whether you think that’s a good thing.

I don’t normally like text tattoos much either, it really would need to be as short as it gets so the text doesn’t take over the whole thing.

Ended up with something slightly different. Instead of the lace as seen above, I got a paisley like pattern to tie in better with the feather (which will also be redone). All the line work minus a small patch (because one patch near the armpit is fun enough to heal at a time) took a little less than 2.5 hours, back for some shading next month.…[Read more]
